Beard is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short leg kick strides on line, smooth load back, good rhythm, hips rotate completely, good balance to swing. Very short to ball and quick to it to, slightly uphill swing path with extension through the ball, line drive swing with some carry in the gaps and potential to add power, exit velocity was 81. Behind the plate, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters with a short quick arm action. Position velocity was 75 and pop times were 1.97-2.04, some accuracy on his throws. Quiet receiver, shows good sway. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a longer loose arm action with some quickness and normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and on line, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, with downward plane and a bit of late cut to it.
