Top Prospect Games 8/8/18
Willard is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action that is quick with some effort. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders uphill and on line, lands on line with a fall off finish. Fastball was 81-84, touching 85 with downward plane and some hard late run to it. Curveball was 71-73 with 12/6 break and some armspeed. Slider was 75 with hard 11/5 break and good armspeed. Showed a change-up in warmups with some armspeed and late run.
Preseason All-State 2/17/18
Willard is 6-1 with a lanky frame, he hits from the right side from and open athletic stance. Leg kick stride on line, no load, some hip rotation and he keeps some balance to his swing. Takes barrel straight to contact, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 78. In the infield, gets body behind the ball and fields with average hands. Works through the ball, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with free arm action, infield velocity was 77. Ran a 4.45 home to first. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball has some downward angle and a bit of late run, pitch was 76-78. Curveball was 70-72 and had good armspeed and late hard 11/5 break.
