Solid 5-foot-11, 195-pound frame for the JMU commit. Works exclusively from the stretch with a low effort delivery. Full arm swing and throws from a low three-quarter arm slot. Cheifetz showed mainly a three pitch mix on the night, with best feel for FB/CH combo. The fastball stayed between 84-87 mph during his two and a third innings pitched. The changeup was the most consistent offspeed pitch in regards to throwing it for strikes. Control over command of the changeup. The changeup sat 76-79 mph with gradual fade. The breaking ball had a slider feel to it at 74-76 mph and occasional late depth.

Cheifetz has an athletic frame with some strength present and some projection left to it. He htrows from a three-quarters arm slot, short on the back side with a quick arm stroke, showed some effort to high effort throughout the outing. Started the game and was 81-83, touching 87 early. He spent a lot of his outing working in the slide step and got squeezed on the edges of the zone. Velo was 86-87 to first batter and then spent the rest of a long first inning in the stretch. Fastball flattened out in slide step and he gave up significant velo. Showed two shapes on his breaking ball, velocities were similar in the 66-70 range, likely his usual curve/slider mix leading to the different shapes, both pitches had good armspeed and sharp break. Fastball really takes off to armside when he works it down to armside.

Cheifetz is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is loose and lightning quick, easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil, simple clean delivery. Fastball 83-86, touching 87, with some late run to armside that gets a bit of sink as well. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. True slider was 77-79 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break. Ability to throw all three for strikes.

Cheifetz has a lankier athletic frame with a lot of projection to it. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action that is quick, normal to easier effort to his delivery. Only threw one inning so I missed getting video on him. Fastball was 79-82, touching 84 once in that inning, with late run on it. Gave up a bit of velocity in a slide step, working more 78-80 when there. Showed a four pitch mix, change-up at 71 with some armspeed and run. Slider was 69-70 with late 10/4 break and some armspeed. Also showed a 12/6 curveball that was 65 once. Slider is his primary breaking pitch, curve more of a show pitch. Results weren't good against a good Freedom lineup, but he kept competing and attacked the strikezone with all of his pitches. Will need to improve command within the strikezone as he continues to develop, but there is a lot of upside for Cheifetz going forward as he adds strength and fills out his frame.
