Williams has a big strong athletic frame. Played first for the majority of the day and moved well around the bag. Shows as a power hitting presence that can play the corners as he advances. Hit in the 3 spot for LCA on the day. His first at bat Williams hit a hard, loud line drive to the second baseman that showed me he has the ability to hit to all fields with power as this was not soft contact. Athletic, relaxed setup with a short path to the ball and the swing has some uphill tilt.
Top Prospect Games
Williams is 6-3 with an athletic frame that is strong and still has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back with a bit of a wrap. Hips rotate violently and maintains good lower half balance during swing. Short and slightly uphill to contact with extension through the ball, very strong at contact with a pull power approach, exit velocity was 90, definite home run power to his pull side with potential to have it to all fields in the future. At third, rounds ball and has clean feet, fields with a good wide base and soft hands. Plays through to a clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 80. Showed versatility by taking balls in the outfield as well. Ran a 4.34 home to first.
Preseason All-State
Williams is 6-3 with a strong athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a tall, slightly open stance. Big leg kick stride on line, smooth load down and back, has some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and keeps some balance throughout his swing. Quick to ball, works uphill through contact with a lot of extension, strong at contact. Showed a pull fly ball approach with power evident, exit velocity was 95. At third, clean feet, works around ball and fields with a wide base and above average hands. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a loose quick arm, throws have carry and infield velocity was 87. Ran a 4.37 home to first.
