Solid 6-foot, 200-pound frame. Normal effort delivery and lands closed at stride. Full arm swing and a quick, whippy three-quarter arm slot. Bert did not use the 84-86 mph fastball much during his five innings of work. Instead he leaned heavily on a 73-75 mph curveball. He showed really advanced feel for the breaking ball, throwing it in multiple 3-2 counts, and basically any time he wanted. Bert also showed a 78-79 mph changeup that he had feel for in the zone. This was his first outing of the year and while he did not show a consistent feel for the fastball in the zone, it was impressive to see how he was able to lean on the breaking ball so much and was so consistent with it. Bert struck out eleven in five innings, ten of which came on the breaking ball.

Bert is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action and higher effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 84-86, with some downward angle and boring action to armside. Curveball had good armspeed and was 73-75.
