Barrett made some nice athletic plays at short, showing his first step quickness and lateral range. At the plate, he also barreled the ball a few times, creating some loud contact and showing some bat speed. On the mound, he has a drop and drive delivery and throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action that is quick, normal effort to his delivery. Lands closed with a hard fall off finish. Barrett worked 82-86, touching 86 three times and predominately sitting 84-85, ball had some late jump to it. Curveball was 69-72 with some armspeed and sharp 10/4 break, pitch plays up when buried down and away.

Standing at 6-foot, 155-pounds with a thin athletic frame with room to add some strength. On the mound starts with a small rocker step to a high consistent balance point with level shoulders moving down the mound. Lands on line at foot strike and throws from a three-quarter arm slot. Fastball was 78-81 mph and showed some carry through the zone. Had a solid feel for the curveball sitting at 62-67 mph with 11/5 shape and looked to be a nice secondary pitch. Changeup sat at 72-74 mph. Upright slightly open stance with a small leg lift to load with hands moving back with some rhythm. Lands on line and showed a short bat path to the ball with uphill tilt to the swing. Swing showed balance throughout with some pull side tendency. Exit velocity was 80 mph. Nice actions defensively. Gets around the ball with active feet and soft hands on reception gathering them to center quickly with a clean exchange. Longer arm action throwing from a low three-quarter arm slot across the field at 77 mph. Ran a 4.45 Home-1st time.

Barrett is very lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short fast arm, generates velocity with normal effort. Lands open and mechanics get disconnected at times, very raw, at this point. Fastball had some late run, sat 80-82, touching 83. Held velocity in the fourth before tailing off to 77-80 in the seventh inning. Slider has some armspeed and late hard 10/4 break. Pitch was 65-72 and has some shape to it, he threw a few that were very good, pitch has swing and miss upside as he continues to develop. At short, Barrett has soft hands and some smooth actions, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action and some looseness to it. Soft hands. At the plate, has some whip to his swing and some batspeed. Pull-heavy approach right now, pulled off on everything and was victimized by a strikezone that got bigger as game progressed. Want to see him hit again and take a whole field approach, bat has a chance to be special. Barrett is a very raw athlete right now with a lot of upside both on the mound and at short, it will be interesting to keep checking in on his development over the next few years.
