5.31.16:  Bach’s mechanics are unchanged from earlier in the year, generating his higher end velocity with some effort from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball sat 85-88 early, touching 90 once. In the sixth inning, he was sitting 84-87, touching 88. Change-up had heavy sink and good armspeed at 80-81. Slider had sharp 10/4 break, running 74-76.

4.21.16:  Bach is a tall, lanky lefty that throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action that is quick, generating velocity with some effort when he reaches for the high end of his velocity. His shoulders are closed and uphill with a closed landing and fall off finish. His fastball had late run, sitting 83-87 for his entire outing, touching 89 when he needed it. His changeup had good armspeed with heavy sink, running 74-78. He threw a curveball with gradual 1/7 break, 71-74. His slider had hard 2/8 break, running 75-77

5.19.15:  Bach throws from a three-quarters arm slot and has a short quick arm action. His shoulders are closed as he strides out before coming to a square finish. His fastball was 84-86 in the first inning touching 87 before settling in at 80-84 for the rest of the game. His fastball has late armside run and good angle to it due to his height and arm slot. His command was very good early in the game, showing the ability to not only pound the outside corner, but attack inside when needed. He threw a fading change-up with decent armspeed that came in at 70. His slider had late 2/8 break to it and ran 68-71. At the plate, Bach has a compact stroke and gap power.

11/9/2014:  Bach stands a lanky 6-foot-6 with a strong lower half.  Bach throws from a three-quarters slot and has a short back arm action and a quick arm that generates easy velocity. His mechanics are smooth and he stays on line through a complete finish. Bach’s fastball sat 81-83 and touched 84 with some sinking action to it. He showed the ability to turn it over harder and make it bite more when he wanted to. Bach threw a slider that had a 1/7 break that he threw from 66-71. He also threw a straight change-up that was 69-76.

7-20-2018: Junior lefty Carter Bach earned the win in that game, working two scoreless, hitless innings of relief, working around two walks. A towering 6-foot-7, 220-pound southpaw, Bach has tantalized the Demon Deacons with his upside, and they expected him to emerge as a key weekend starter as a sophomore this spring, but he went 0-3, 10.46 in 12 appearances (eight starts), struggling mightily with his control (27 walks and 28 strikeouts in 26.2 IP). But Bach has turned the corner for Bethesda this summer, posting a 2.79 ERA and a 30-8 K-BB mark in 19.1 innings over five starts. Bach has a long arm action with a wrap in the back that could affect his command, but he has good extension from a three-quarters slot. He bumped 90-91 early in his two-inning stint Tuesday but sat 87-89. His best pitch is a 78-80 changeup that flashes above-average and is his go-to out pitch. He must continue to improve his 75-77 breaking ball, which lacks depth and bite but is a serviceable get-me-over pitch against lefties. (Aaron Fitt)
