Anthony Escobar C St. John’s College 2022

Projectable frame at 5-foot-10, 158-pounds. At the plate Escobar starts with an open stance from the right side, uses a bigger stride forward, and lands on line. Hands are pre-set back and are short to the ball. Bat path is slightly uphill and Escobar utilized a gap to gap line drive approach during his BP rounds. Exit velocity was 74 mph. Defensively the feet worked through the throw and body stayed in line. Clean exchange to a very short arm circle and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot at 63 mph. Pop times ranged from 2.28-2.38. In the infield feet were active, head stayed down through the catch, and arm action was short. Threw from a three-quarter arm slot at 61 mph across the infield.

2019 Diamondskills All-American Camp

5-foot-10, 158-pound long frame with some room to add strength. Stance is relaxed and athletic at setup with a short hand load, strides in line, and has a level bat path to contact. Stays balanced and behind the ball throughout the swing with a complete finish of the lower half. Exit velo was 75 mph. Behind the plate he makes a clean high exchange to the hand and has a short arm action throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot. Positional velocity was 64 mph with a pop time that ranged from 2.37-2.47. 60 time was a 7.60.

Top Prospect Games II 8/8/18

Escobar is 5-9 with a lanky frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back with a wrap, hips rotate completely, and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, showed good approach using whole field, slightly uphill line drive swing knack for the barrel, exit velocity was 78. Behind the plate, gains ground on his exchange. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity was 64, pop times were 2.39-2.50.
