Big frame 6-foot-3, 215-pounds with strength. The big righty threw his 4-pitch mix for strikes; his fastball ranged from 81-83 mph and he threw it to both sides of the plate, he had feel for a tight slider with depth at 68-69 mph, he threw his changeup down in the zone, and just below the zone with plenty of feel and deceptive hand speed at 73 mph, and his curveball was 66-68 mph. Tieding has a smooth delivery with regular effort, has the same tempo throughout his windup, a long loose arm action with a high ¾ release point. At the plate he works from a slightly narrow athletic stance, utilizes a toe tap with his front foot where he loads his front knee back before taking a long stride forward, Tieding glides with that front foot and keeps his body working behind the baseball. In the hitting zone a long time with his barrel, and he flashed gap power in BP and posted an 86 mph exit velo off the tee. Has control of his body at first base, where he had fluid actions with a clean transfer and release. Made accurate throws, and topped out at 78 mph across the infield. Tieding ran an 8.23 laser-timed 60.
