DALLAS, TX - John Cooper and All Saints Episcopal met at the University of Dallas on Friday morning for a SPC Quarterfinal playoff game. Two sophomores matched up in a classic pitchers duel. 2019 LHP Evan Godwin, a Texas Tech recruit, took the mound for John Cooper. While 2019 RHP Matthew Tieding was on the bump for All Saints Episcopal.
Both starters were impressive, neither allowing a run through six innings. Left-hander Evan Godwin tallied 6.2 IP, allowing only two hits, two walks, while striking out four for John Cooper. But in the bottom of the seventh, All Saints’ Cade Farr reached on an error then moved up on a stolen base. Sophomore shortstop Jacob Speaker drove in Farr for the winning run, lifting All Saints to the semi-final game of the SPC Championship.
Right-hander Matthew Tieding recording the complete game shutout for All Saints. The sophomore allowed no runs on five hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
