8/16/19: Texas Tech two-way talent Kurt Wilsonlooked good in two scoreless, hitless innings of relief in his third mound appearance in the Cape League. Wilson’s fastball ranged from 88-92 mph, and he located it well to both sides. He also flashed a solid-average 11-to-5 curveball at 75-78, though it was a big inconsistent. (Seifert)
7/18/18: 6-foot-2, 185 pound, strong, athletic frame with some projection remaining. Similar body type to Steve Finley. Offensively, Wilson is having an impressive summer at the plate, hitting for both average and power. Wilson loads well with his lower half and has a leg kick. Generates great bat speed and keeps his barrel through the zone. Hits the ball hard to all fields and has impressive opposite field power. Has got good lift to his swing and has some pop in his bat. Defensively, Wilson has played all over the diamond this summer. He has spent the most time in the outfield where he runs good routes with decent range. In the infield he shows quick feet with soft hands with similar range. His most impressive tool is his arm. It is above average and accurate. Also a prospect on the mound. Throws a mid-90s fastball with good riding life. Touched 97 mph. Throws an average 11/5 curveball. Flashed an upper-80s change as well. Currently, Wilson’s bat is more polished than his pitching, but he has the stuff and the athleticism to improve on the mound. Wilson is draft eligible for 2019 draft and a two-way player to follow.
