8/5/18 - 60: 7.23, Position Velocity: OF: 80, Exit Velocity: 92
OF picked up a couple hits in game while showing an improved exit velocity. 6-2, 165-pounder features a tall, athletic frame w/ high-waist, well-proportioned lean strength, super projectable. Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, upright stance w/ short hand rhythm into stride to slightly open and proper load. Appears to have eliminated the leg kick he utilized at Vanderbilt. Generates above average bat speed through the zone. Quiet, repeatable swing, controls his lower half well. Let the ball get deep, causing him to just miss some pitches he should have drove to his pull side and deposit them in RF for a single. Projectable all fields power as the frame matures. Defensively, profiles best in RF w/ ability to track the baseball. Showed better arm strength earlier this year, working to keep lower half consistently engaged defensively on his throws.
6/12/18 - Home-1st: 4.59, Position Velocity: OF-75, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-3, 165-pound, RHH had a big day in game, collecting 3 hits, including a triple. Tall, athletic profile w/ well-proportioned lean strength. Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Offensively, hits w/ a narrow, upright, straight on stance w/ short body rhythm into crouch, short leg kick and proper load. Generates above average bat speed through the zone w/ natural loft. Pull oriented approach, flashes ability to keep weight back and use all fields. Keeps upper and lower half in sync well. Big power ceiling, waiting to add strength to frame to capitalize on the combination of bat speed and natural loft. Barrel feel w/ still head, projects to hit for average. 1 swing and miss on 10 swings on this day. Projectable slightly above average runner. In the OF, moves well w/ projectable average arm strength. Likely profiles in a corner, but may be able to spell in CF. Frame maturation and adding strength will determine his ultimate upside.
1/15/18 - Max FB: 75, FB: 73-74, CH: 65-69, SL: 64-68
6-foot-3, 165-pound, RHP shows projectable frame w/ projectable arm-speed. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, still oozing projection. Pitches from a full wind-up w/ rocker step towards home plate into chest high leg kick w/ hands moving even with shoulders from the third base side of the rubber. Drops on his back leg to generate some leg drive into stride and proper finish w/ H ¾ release. Lands with front foot facing on deck circle, can improve direction to the plate and get all his momentum firing towards the hitter. Presents a strong front side w/ proper glove work. Front leg driven vs. back leg driven. Repeats. Straight FB. Slurvy SL flashes ¾ tilt w/ late life, gets big at times w/ early break. Learning to consistently keep fingers on top of the baseball on the SL. CH w/ arm-speed, fade and occasional sink. Better life to his arm-side than glove-side. Around the zone w/ FB, developing off-speed feel.
1/15/18 - 60 Time: 7.59, Position Velocity: IF-74, OF-78, Exit Velocity: 87
6-foot-3, 165-pound, RHH showed big jumps in every category from this time last year, likely due to the addition of 23 pounds. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, still oozing projection. Offensively, hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Mini leg kick w/ proper hand load. Uses lower half well, generates big bat-speed through the zone that projects to continue improving as he adds strength to his frame. Flashes ability to get on time, with more reps, will reach a high offensive ceiling. Projects to hit for power w/ feel for back-spin. On the infield, shows good hands, good feet w/ projectable arm strength. Moves well in the OF w/ idea of how to play through the baseball and get legs involved. Very intriguing sophomore prospect just scratching the surface.
1/16/17 - 60 Time: 7.75, Position Velocity: OF-68, Exit Velocity: 77
6-foot-0, 142-pound, RHH hits from the same balanced and very slightly open stance we saw from him at the 2016 Underclass Games, uses a smooth and abbreviated leg kick and stride with a slight movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half fires and gets his backside through very well, swing plane is steep through the zone but straight to contact, best when he stays up the middle. Defensively, showed good hands and decent footwork in the outfield, consistently played through the ball, stayed more controlled through his exchange, arm action was long through an over-the-top slot.
7/27/16 - Home-1st: 5.13, Position Velocity: 72, Exit Velocity: 76
6-foot-0, 130-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance, uses a leg kick with a slight lowering of the hands and barrel tilt to get loaded, lower half fires through and produces good separation, bat path gets a little steep at times but showed good lift at and through contact, casts his hands around the ball at times. Defensively, attacked the ball and played through it but caught himself a little out of rhythm at times, used quite the crow hop and a long arm action through an over-the-top slot to produce fairly accurate throws with average arm strength.
