Colton Baron (Siegel, 2026) Baron has seen his stock steadily climb over the last year where he initially jumped on my radar at a late fall showcase event where he showed the arm action and the body fluidity. At 6 foot 2 and 200 pounds, Baron is far from a finished product from a development standpoint but shows good signs of an early floor and progression that surely will continue in his high school career. He pitches with an air of confidence and belief in himself, while truly giving his team a shot to win every game he takes the hill. He was lights out against Oakland, where he flashed the pitchability and command of three pitches. The fastball was hot early where he sat 86-87 to start the game before settling into 83-85, with a handful of 86’s throughout the course of 7 innings with late come back arm-side run. The curveball showed late breaking bite that had hitters consistently swinging over it and showed confidence commanding it as a strike in the lower quadrant, while also expanding the zone away to right-handers off the plate. His changeup may already be his best weapon where he has feel with his release point in congruent with his landing to start it off the plate and allow it to work back against righties, while also showing command to work it away against lefties. The upside is clearly there and is just starting to come into his own with realizing how good he can be. I also love that he isn’t overthrowing and just out there pitching and wouldn’t be surprised to see the velocity steadily climb over the next few years. He is a very high follow for college coaches looking to start their initial list of 26’s to see.
