6/11/19

60: 7.50 C Velo: 81 Pop Time: 1.93-2.04 Exit Velo: 90

6-foot-3, 197-pound well proportioned build who has only scratched the surface of his frame potential. Offensively, shows good presence in the box. Setup is tall and slightly uphill with an open stance. Has a toe tap into a quick strong positive move forward.  Shows ability to get to the baseball quick. Swing can be high effort with a lot of force at contact.  Behind the plate he showed great glove presentation and ability to stick the baseball. Supported a quick transition to a strong and accurate arm. Has the potential to be a two-way guy at the next level.

6/11/19

The 6’3 197-pound two-way prospect got the starting nod on the bump before moving behind the dish to finish the game.  On the mound, Heath sat 85-87 with heavy ball with some occasional cut. Heath utilized a 71-74 mph a tight spinning breaking ball with 10/4 action that showed flashes of being an above average offering.  His repertoire is wrapped up with a 80-81 mph changeup with some fade action.  At the plate, Heath shows gap to gap power getting good lift on the ball, launching a home run during BP and a double during live action. Behind the plate, Heath showed off the arm registering a 81 catcher velo and 1.93-2.04 pop time, best on day one of the event.

8/5/18 - 60: 7.66, Position Velocity: C: 84, Exit Velocity: 90, Pop Times: 1.81-1.84

C went through the evaluation portion of the event only to set himself up to start game 1.  He improved every category, which included tying for the lead in catcher velocity for the entire event and improving his exit velocity to 90 miles per hour.

6/12/18 - Max FB: 89, FB: 85-88, Avg FB: 86.14, CB: 70-73, CH: 71
6-foot-2, 188-pound, RHP continues to show development in a high-octane FB.  Tall, athletic profile w/ some present lower half strength, projectable upper half.  Prototypical pitcher frame.  Pitches from the stretch only into a H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber.  High effort throw w/ some head violence.  Super quick arm.  Angle w/ downhill plane.  FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  Tight, short downer CB has made strides since we saw him last.  Flashes average rotation, proper shape. CH w/ arm-speed, short fade and sink.  Around the zone, shows ability to fill the zone w/ FB’s, developing feel for secondary stuff.  Generated 3 swing and misses on 17 swings.

6/12/18 - Home-1st: 4.82, Pop Time: 1.88-2.03, Position Velocity:  C-82, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-2, 188-pound, RHH showed impressive arm strength behind the plate.  Tall, athletic profile w/ some present lower half strength, projectable upper half.  Prototypical pitcher frame.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands and weight on the backside into very short stride into the top of his toe to slightly open and proper hand load.  Generates bat speed through the zone w/ natural loft.  Pull oriented approach, learning to keep upper and lower halves in sync, occasionally open up too early.  Projectable pull power, profiles as power over average bat.  As frame matures, shows ability to have average power.  Projectable below average runner.  Defensively, presents solid knee-high target w/ minimal glove rest, occasionally sets it late, gets a higher target when moving to his glove side.  Can move loudly behind the plate at times.  Presents a big target to throw to.  Tools to receive.  Shines as a thrower, featuring carry through target arm strength, good release and quality footwork.  Throws tend to be around the bag.  Intriguing defense-power option behind the plate, but may be too good on the mound to profile as a collegiate catcher.

10/22/17 - Max FB: 87, FB: 83-87, CB: 69-71, CH: 73
6-foot-2, 181-pound, RHP showed present velocity w/ projectable arm speed and body.  Tall, athletic frame w/ some present strength, projection.  Pitches from the stretch only.  Balance point into hip drive and H ¾ release.  Proper finish w/ lightning quick arm, some effort in throw w/ downhill plane.  Breaks hands lower in stretch as opposed to wind-up, creating some timing issues where arm is ahead of body.   Straight FB shows occasional arm side run.  Medium downer CB flashes proper rotation w/ average depth.  Gets loose at other times.  CH w/ arm-speed, fade and sink.  Projects to command w/ easy to repeat mechanics, consistent arm slot.  Generated 23 % swing and miss (3 of 13).  High level 2020 follow w/ present velo.

9/17/17 - Max FB: 86, FB (81-85), CB (69-72), CH (75)
6-2, 170-pound righty showcases a quick arm w/ above avg present velo.  Athletic build w/ projectable lower half.  Pitches from the stretch only w/ a H 3/4 release point.  Some head violence and effort.  Super quick arm.  Fastball shows occasional arm side run when down, occasional ride when elevated.  Medium downer CB is raw and developing, but flashes average.  CH w/ armspeed and a little sink.  Around the zone, projects to command.  Special arm w/ very high upside.

12/10/16 - 60 Time: 7.72, Pop Time: 2.02-2.16, Position Velocity:  C-76, IF-77, Exit Velocity: 80
6-foot-0, 162-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance with some initial shoulder tilt and slightly higher hands, stride is short and hands come down and back for his load, lower half does a good job of clearing his hips and freeing him up, balance would be more consistent if he stayed lower, bat path is flat to slightly up through the zone and helps him to drive balls into the air, some gap-to-gap potential.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork behind the plate, efficient exchange led to a short and clean arm action through a high ¾ slot with good strength, showed some versatility by competing in the infield.

12/10/16 - Max FB: 74, FB: 67-74, CB: 66-67, CH: 59-63,
6-foot-0, 162-pound, RHP uses his length throughout his delivery with a longer rocker step and a higher leg lift that pulls his hands toward his chest, front hip gets loaded and leads toward the plate on his way down, strides in line to slightly closed and finishes balanced or just out front of his lead leg, arm action is short and comes through a high ¾ slot.  Fastball showed some slight run through the zone, breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with gradual movement, changeup had some fade and was thrown around the plate.
