Showcased some big time stuff in February of 2019 with a 5-pitch mix, highlighted by a 87-89 mph FB to go with a large, projectable frame. Unfortunately, Warta has been sidelined for substantial time due to injury and will look to return to form in a make or break year in 2021, which will be intriguing to follow.

Max FB: 89, FB (87-89), CB (71-72), SL (74-77), CT (73-78), CH (79) 6-0, 175-pound righty continues to get better, picking up 4 ticks of velocity from last summer while showcasing better secondary offerings. Medium, athletic frame w/ present lower half strength, some upper half projection, projectable. Pitches from a full wind-up into over the top release from the first base side of the rubber. Super quick arm w/ some effort in the throw. Repeats his delivery, gets lower half involved. Occasional downhill plane. Straight FB w/ ride through the zone, occasional short cut. Medium downer CB was inconsistent, flashed depth, flashed proper shape. SL is best secondary at this stage, ¾ tilt w/ proper shape, chance to be a put-away type pitch as he learns to trust it and throw with FB arm-speed. CT was better at the top end of the velocity, but moved more like a SL, little separation. Straight CH. Around the zone w/ his FB, developing feel for his secondary stuff.

Warta hopped on the mound for an inning after starting the game at shortstop, and proceeded to work 83-84 with a fastball that jumped out of his hand with quick arm speed. The high-waisted, athletic right-hander is flexible with a long stride, and the ball gets on hitters in a hurry. There were some reports of him being up to 86 mph earlier in the tournament, and I believe not only that number, but that he may be up higher this summer given his athleticism. The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder did not show off a secondary pitch, but given his quick arm, a firm slider is definitely possible.
5-foot-11, 165-pound, RHP showed a SL that took a step forward in his 2nd inning of work. Medium, athletic frame w/ wiry strength throughout, projectable. Pitches from the stretch only into H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber. High effort throw with a lot of limbs coming at the hitter. Super quick arm. Learning to consistently fire on his back leg. Straight FB w/ occasional short cut. SL is developing consistency, flashes above average ¾ tilt w/ late bite. Occasional spinner. Was the best we have seen it in his 2nd inning of work at this event. Mixed in one CH, which showed fade and arm-speed, but buried it. Around the zone w/ his FB, has taken a step forward in his strike-throwing ability. Inconsistent w/ secondary. Projects to control w/ reps. Generated 3 swing and misses on 16 swings, including 2 of 3 on the SL.

Max FB: 85, FB: 83-85, CB: 76-77, CH: 77-78 5-foot-11, 160-pound, RHP showed 2 mile per hour improvement from when we last him in November. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, lot of projection. Pitches from a full wind-up w/ back foot preset on first base side of rubber w/ short rocker step. Stomach high leg kick w/ hip drive into over the top release. Lightning quick arm w/ high velo ceiling. Repeats w/ high effort delivery. FB w/ ride through the zone. Flashes arm side run. Short downer CB flashes, occasional spinner, occasional swing and miss. Will get more consistent w/ reps. Firm straight CH w/ arm-speed. Around the zone, projects to control. Very exciting 2021 arm w/ big ceiling.

Max FB: 83, FB: 81-82, CB: 73-77, CH: 76-77 5-foot-10, 150-pound, RHP shows lightning quick arm w/ lot of projection. Medium, athletic frame w/ little present strength oozes projection. Pitches from a full wind-up w/ pre-set back foot on first base side of rubber. Short rocker step into leg kick and hip drive w/ some rhythm into over the top release and proper finish w/ fall off to the first base side. Max effort throw w/ super quick arm. Waiting on body development to see arm speed match velocity. Straight FB w/ occasional ride through the zone. Short downer CB flashes proper rotation, can be a spinner right now, learning to stay on top and finish the pitch out in front. Firm straight CH w/ arm-speed. Feel for throwing strikes w/ FB, projects to control the baseball.
