Physical: Tall, durable, 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame. 7.39 runner in the 60.
Offensively: Starts in an athletic, upright, and slightly open stance with his hands level with his shoulders. He brings his hands down on his load along with a toe tap and small stride for timing as he gets into his quick lefty stroke. He is able to generate above average bat speed thanks to quick hands and a solid lower half that he utilizes well in his swing. He has a flatter bat path that allows him to keep the barrel in the hitting zone for as long as possible and produce plenty of hard contact, which he did to the tune of a 102 mph peak exit velo via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts upright but is aggressive in his approach for the ball. He attacks the ball to get the hop he wants and is light on his feet and mobile around the bag.
Pitching: Starts on the third base side of the rubber with his glove covering his face. He brings it down to the belt before bringing it back up to face height along with his average leg kick. He strides out directly towards home plate and shows a loose arm and throws from a high ¾ arm slot.
Fastball: Spots it well down in the zone and shows some late arm side movement. He sat in the mid 80s and got up to 87 mph.
Slider: A two-plane slider, he throws it in upper 60s to low 70s with good depth and tilt.
Changeup: Thrown with deceptive arm speed, shows late fading action.
2/22/20
Demonstrated feel for a physically advanced 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame with present athleticism and fluidity in his actions. The primary left-handed pitcher sat 87-90 mph with late life in the zone out of a fluid, and athletic ¾ arm-slot. Generated plus hip-shoulder separation allowing for quality hand speed from the left-side. Mixed in a 66-67 mph curveball with 1/7 shape and late, disappearing depth. The left-handed hitter begins with a wide, open setup utilizing a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. A strong lower half created advanced barrel whip through a slightly uphill path in the hitting zone. Showcased feel for the barrel while peppering balls deep to both gaps with natural pull side lift, recording a 91 mph bat-exit velocity during one of the top rounds of BP on the day. Ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. The first baseman featured advanced feel around the bag with a low center of gravity and soft hands working through the ball out in front. Smooth transfers with range to both sides allowed for plays on the run to be made and yielded accurate 76 mph arm-strength across the diamond.
