2/12/17 6-foot-1, 190-pound primary outfielder sat 80-83 with some hip coil to his delivery out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Relatively new to the position, Buffington also showcased a 66 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and occasional two-plane break along with good feel for his changeup at 74-77. Very athletic two-way prospect could see significant jumps in velocity if more concentration were to be placed on this area of his game.
2/12/17 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitter with athletic build who ran a 6.75 60-yard dash. Starts from a open stance and strides to slightly open. Has strength that helped generate a 93 mph exit velocity, up markedly from when we saw him over the summer, and occasionally created some backspin during his BP round. Athletic approach to the baseball defensively and appears to have ironed out directional issues with stride foot, allowing his 86 mph arm strength to play up with good carry.
6/29/16 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitter with muscular, athletic build. Gets his hands to a good launch point and has some strength in his frame. Starts from an open, wide stance and stays open, creating spin and a swing that's geared pullside. Ran a 6.89 60-yard dash and posted 81 mph exit velocity. Recorded 81 mph arm strength from the outfield and 75 mph from first base. Outfield arm doesn't play the way it could due to a really closed landing that limits his extension and causes his throws to tail. On the infield, he showed solid feet and hands, along with some athleticism.
