Notes

Comments

6/13/21

Physical: Athletic, twitchy 5-foot-8, 165lb frame with room to continue adding strength. 7.53 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Begins in a wide, slightly open stance with minor bend in the knees as the hands showed loosely by the ear. Utilized bounce off the shoulder into a barrel-tip coupled with a leg-lift stride to initiate the hands through a quick, flat path into the hitting zone. Lifted on occasion through the middle of the field while getting extended at the front of the plate. Mostly middle/LCF approach during batting practice with the ability to situationally hit in-game. Recorded a strong 88 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman Baseball with a 73 mph bat-speed. Consistent hitter who is just getting back to full strength.

Defensively: The primary catcher featured above-average defensive skills. Solid receiver from narrow/traditional while absorbing the baseball through the catch into a soft glove hand (plus pocket awareness). Found success in the catch/throw phase with easy, replaceable feet while staying low on the transfers. Flashed ability to keep the lower half under pitches at the bottom of the zone, still impressively popping 1.95-2.02 with a 72 mph arm strength. Showed comfortability when blocking to both sides of the dish, moving the glove-hand first.

2/07/21

Physical: Compact, athletic 5-foot-7, 165-pound frame with feel present in all phases of the game. 7.28 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Wide, slightly open stance with the hands waving out in front of the head at a 45 degree angle. Utilized an early leg-hang stride with advanced control of the timing mechanism allowing for impressive burst through a slightly uphill bat path into the hitting zone. Tons of whip in the swing with fluidity to all quadrants of the plate, recorded a 92 mph peak bat-exit velocity and a 50% line drive rate demonstrating the bat to ball skills present. Generated a 329 foot batted ball distance per Trackman Baseball, which looks to climb as he continues tapping into a well above-average power ceiling (20.6 G’s of rotational acceleration).

Defensively: The primary catcher featured solid receiving abilities working down to up at the catch point from a traditional setup; pop times ranged from 1.98-2.04 seconds with extremely quick feet and an efficient move to straight line before releasing from a short, lightning quick high ¾ slot. Arm was accurate on the bag (73 mph) and the actions will play admirably at the next level behind the plate. Advanced blocker with obvious downhill chest angles from an athletic position yielding recovery ability.

6/15/20

Physical: 5-foot-8, 150 pounds; lean, athletic build. 7.45 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Upright, slightly open stance with feet shoulder width and hands up and out in front; gains some ground with leg kick while hands have some waggle loading back. strong effort while staying behind the ball with direct path to contact staying on plane through the zone; 10 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Casciato is able to produce 15.3 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 63%.  solid line drive contact from gap to gap; average Trackman exit velocity of 75.62 MPH; peak exit velo was 89 MPH.
Defensively: Balanced and low to the ground; quick feet getting in line with target. soft glove with a clean transfer; quick arm action to a 3/4 release creating backspin on accurate throws. 1.93-2.02 pop times. C - 72 MPH.

2/22/20

Showcased feel for a lean 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame with room to add size and strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a narrow, open stance with high hand wiggle utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a high-effort swing into the zone. Generated slight lift to the pull side gap demonstrating a feel for the barrel during batting practice. Recorded a 7.44 60-yard dash. The backstop showed adequate receiving skills with minimal movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.01-2.03 on accurate throws of 74 mph from the crouch out of a quick, high ¾ arm-slot. Displayed advanced straight line footwork with fluid transfers yielding consistent throws on the bag. Featured solid blocking technique creating soft walls to both sides with downward chest angles.
