2/22/20

Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot, 180 pounds. Wide set stance in the box with front leg extended and slight bend on backside. Strides into a wide base with hands loaded above back shoulder. Keeps weight centered and creates above average bat speed with controlled effort. Creates leverage against a strong, tall front leg. Uphill barrel path with high finish thru contact. Defensively, Weber has above average pure arm strength that allows him to impact the game from the catching position. As a receiver, sets up in a slightly staggered stance while presenting a compact target. Athletic actions as he gets out of crouch into throwing motion. High, quick takeaway into clean arm action and high ¾ release. Ball works downhill out of hand with impressive carry. Popped 1.87 on his best bolt down to 2nd. Oregon State commit

Weber is another player who was highlighted in a Scout Blog from our coverage of the spring season. The raw arm strength is beginning to develop into a consistent defensive tool now. He showed a short, compact throwing motion behind the dish during the workout & popped a 1.85 on his best throw down to 2b. The catch & throw actions are quick, athletic and controlled. At the plate, he has impressive bat speed to go with an uphill swing path. Utilizes his overall strength in the box effectively and hits against a strong front side to create power/leverage. Oregon State commit.

Uncommitted. Weber, a 6-foot, 180-pound catcher showcased impressive arm strength from behind the dish for Barlow. He has looser hips with softer hands that allow him to be a quality receiver, and he demonstrates the ability to block most pitches thrown his way. The arm makes up for any rawness seen in the catch-and-throw, and he should continue to make strides forward. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts open with his hands hanging over the plate, squaring with a regular stride that pushes them down and back. There is some whip to the barrel through the zone, and with strong wrists, he could make a jump with more at-bats in the future. His athleticism and potential to stick behind the plate makes him an interesting follow.
