Oregon 2021 Rankings Update

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Oregon - 2020 has been a unique year on so many levels. Both in the real world and in baseball. Players have faced challenges over the last 6 months that have tested their patience, will power and motivation. Through it all, they have shown how resilient they can be and reaffirmed that a love for baseball is something that can never be taken away.

While we didn’t get the pleasure of watching the drama and excitement of the high school season play itself out, we were fortunate to have plenty of opportunities to see players this summer. Although the circumstances were unique and varied from day to day, week to week and month to month, the game still went on.

As we finish up the summer, we’re excited to bring an updated and expanded version of our 2021 state rankings. This update builds upon our initial list of 30 and brings a total of 75 prospects into the mix. This list will be updated and expanded again after our Fall/Winter showcase opportunities. And then finalized at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

2021 STATE RANKINGS

TOP 10

#1 Mason Guerra, INF, Westview, Oregon State commit
Guerra looks like he is poised to go wire-to-wire as the #1 player in the state. Dating back to last year, he has established himself as the top talent and shows no signs of slowing down. He has continued to hit at a high level and performed considerably well on the national scene when given the opportunity. As anticipated, his frame has matured and made him a consistent power threat with the ability to drive the ball to all fields.

#2 Cam Clayton, INF, Lakeridge, Washington commit
After a huge summer, Clayton ascended into the national rankings for the first time and established himself as a premier talent in the PNW. The overall athleticism shows up in-game and his physical tools have steadily progressed over the last few years. Offensively he shows loose, easy hands with barrel control and adjustability in the box. Defensively he moves easily at SS with clean actions and is versatile enough to move around the diamond if needed.
