2024 RHP Ryan James (Evansville commit) put together the top pitching performance of the event, generating swings/misses on multiple pitches and punched out the first four batters he faced. 6-foot-2, 200-pounds right-hander who’s fastball sat 86-89mph and featured a pair of quality breaking balls with a curveball at 73mph and a slider with tight, sweeping action at 76-80mph Also flashed a changeup and showed the ability to throw all four pitches for strikes. James has really seemed to elevate his game over the past four months or so as the velocity has ticked up and he’s gained confidence in his entire arsenal, consistently attacking hitters.
7/28/21
PBR FUTURE GAMES James, a long-armed, wide-shouldered 6-foot, 180-pound righty worked first out the pen and pounded the zone with a three-pitch mix. The velocity wasn’t where we have seen in the past as it was 81-83 but he showed the ability to get hitters out without his typical lively fastball. The curveball had depth and near 12/6 shape while there was still velocity as it worked in the 74-76 range and kept hitters off balance with spin numbers in the upper 2500 range. He’ll mix in a changeup and slider to as well.
