8/4/17 Pilmer stands at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, bringing a presence to himself on the mound. Pilmer started and worked 3 innings with the wind in his face vs Team Ohio. Pilmer fastball worked between 83-85, commanding the zone and using it to get ahead of hitters. The breaking ball ws 71-73, and showed a 10/4 shape, which could turn into more of a slider as he has the arm slot to do so. Pilmer was in charge his entire outing, and had very little trouble to work through. The big workhorse righty pitches with regular effort at 3/4 slot, as he adds body control, and gets more innings, look for Pilmer to settle in the upper 88-90 range with the chance to be a three pitch guy.
3/26/17 Big 6-foot-4, 230-pound right-handed 2019 prospect. Thick frame with strong lower half, country strong. Repeats delivery, arm works, clean in the back, comes out of 3/4 slot, slow tempo to top of delivery, stays under control through finish. Fastball sat 83-84 mph, seen up to 86 previously. Slider was anywhere between 73-77 mph, had some tilt and late action, chance to be potential out pitch. Changeup had some fading action to arm side at 72-73 mph, when he maintained arm speed was very workable pitch off his fastball. Big strong righty that has chance to be workhorse. Velocity will spike as he heads into 2017 and is one of the top pitching prospect in his class. Real chance for him to be three pitch guy who has movement, eventually velocity and a breaking ball.
6/4/17 Big strong right-hander was 83-86 from an easy 3/4 slot, worked fastball down with run to arm side. Threw a couple really good breaking balls that had biting action between 72-76 mph while the changeup has feel and replicates fastball out of hand. Overpowered hitters with his fastball in game. Pilmer has the size and actions to be a top prospect with a lot of upside to his game. One to follow closely as he could be an early commit with what he has shown to date.
Strong 6-foot-2, 200-pound 2019 grad. Thick lower half that he uses well to generate off the mound, workhorse type build with strength and more to come. Arm works from 3/4 slot, clean in the back and has arm side run when out front, has topped out at 86 mph and works in the 83-85 mph range. Breaking ball is 70-73 mph, at times will back up on him, 11/5 shape with bite when ontime and extended, changeup is firm at 77 mph, ability to repeat delivery will help with being more consistent with his stuff. Love the size and how the arm works, high ceiling with chance for big time stuff.
