Transferred from Missouri to Grayson College (TX)
2/11/17
A 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame packed with strength. Works from a deliberate wind-up, good lower half drive. Moderate arm circle, high-3/4 slot, quick out front. Fastball keeps its plane, 83-84 mph, well above average control. Changeup shows fade and sink with lots of depth, 73-78. Curveball rolls at times with 12/6 shape, 69-71 mph. Other times it shows a sharper 11/5 shape 72-73 mph. Offensively, a right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, double trajectory. Hits from a relaxed, upright set-up with easy rhythm. Used a small hanging leg kick for timing, slightly uphill path, good extension through finish, repeatedly found barrel. Shows fast hands and bat speed, impressive, elite power for his age, 99 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.29 laser-timed 60. Defensively, advanced as well, possess soft hands, clean footwork, and athletic actions. Accurate arm with good carry, 77 mph to first base.
A Missouri commit. Stands 6-foot-1, 205 pounds with strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a relaxed upright stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate hanging leg kick for timing and is short to the ball with very quick hands. In BP, shows a gap to gap approach with lift occasionally pulling down the line, big pop, multiple balls off the wall, exit velo of 91 at this event, previously 99 mph. Runs a 7.26 60. Defensively, shows elite hands and feet with rhythm and confidence making every play with ease. Throws from a low-3/4 slot with a very quick release, 77 mph, some accuracy. In the game, went 1-for-2 with two HBP’s, a strikeout, and blasted a double to the pull gap.
The Missouri commit stands 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. The right-handed hitter shows impressive barrel strength and bat speed and enough hand eye to hit for a high average as well. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 with a home run off of a breaking ball. Defensively, plays a solid shortstop for Deer Creek, but projects to be a high-end third baseman at the next level with elite hands and an accurate arm with some strength.
