The 2023 catcher showcased why he is among the top catch and throw catchers in the class in both the showcase portion and during the games. During the workout Briggs popped one of the top times from behind the plate at 1.83 and ranged it to 1.97. The swing continues to make strides as he had one of his better BP rounds we have seen from him and has very good Blast Motion metrics with hand speeds up to 25 mph and bat speed up to 76 mph from the left side of the box. He showcased his ability to receive and block very well during the games as he has advanced feel for pitch framing and very quick/flexible hips when getting into the blocking position. With the swing continuing to improve each time we see him to go along with his advanced defense behind the plate, programs will find a high ceiling catcher that can step in and defend from day 1 on campus.
