A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Skelding throws from a ¾ arm slot and creates fairly good momentum down the slope of the mound but still would seem like he could get more power out of his backside by initiating his upper body a little later in his delivery. Fastball: The fastball was 79-81 mph and showed mostly true through the zone. Curveball: His breaking ball was 66-68 mph and showed curveball shape and spin with good depth. Changeup: The changeup was 72-75 mph. Pitchability: Skelding showed solid feel for his three pitch mix. Overall a very projectable arm with a good frame to fill out and add strength.
2/9/20 Position Player Hit: At the plate he used a simple toe tap load. Was somewhat stiff in his swing and showed an uphill bat path with average bat to ball ability. Power: 81 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Young prospect with a lot of physical maturation remaining. Better outlook on offensive projection in another year or two. Field: In the field he showed average footwork with decent rhythm and timing. Could quicken up his transfers and shorten his arm path on throws. Throw: 71 mph across the diamond. Defensive Projection: Probably projects better in the OF than IF.

Body Type: 6-foot, 143-pound very athletic, projectable frame. Swing Mechanics: A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Very smooth, athletic loading sequence. Hit: Generates easy pop through a very efficient stroke. Feel hitter that can use the entire yard. Squared up everything in his round. Power: Line drive guy with much more to come as he adds strength. Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles. Field: Rangy defender with athletic actions. Very smooth with the ability to maintain rhythm. Very solid defender who looks destined for the left side of the infield. Throw: Accurate arm. Strength plays up due to quick transfer. Defensive Projection: Left side of infield. Additional Comments:
Body Type: 6-foot, 143-pound very athletic, projectable frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Good mover on the mound. Stays connected to the mound and really uses his lower half well down the mound. Arm is clean and on time. Any added strength will easily translate to added velocity. Fastball: 75-79 mph. Mid to Upper 70s with very high spin rate so velo plays up. Curveball: 62-64 mph 11/5 offering that is above average stuff wise and in the zone often. Changeup: 69-70 mph. Flashed the offering a few times and it looks to be playable. Pitchability: Strike thrower that mixes in all three offerings.
7/10/18
The right hander on the mound with a frame that presents a great deal of projection. Mechanics have cleaned up since we last saw him while being able to be repeated more consistently. Uses a drop and drive style while really getting off the backside and down the hill efficiently. Short, compact arm action that works through a high ¾ slot. Fastball is constantly working at the bottom half of the zone at 69-71 mph. Curveball had near 12/6 shape with gradual break while being spun with confidence at 55-57 mph. Two-way prospect. A right-handed that starts in a tall, open setup. Goes with a slight back load to hands during his leg kick timing mechanism. Balanced launch with a slightly downhill path. Contact type hitter with a balanced offering of strength and speed through the zone. Rangy defender up the middle with fluid actions. Reacts well off the bat, showing a quick first step and above average lateral mobility. Hands are soft and ball skills are above average for the spot.
5-foot-8, 120 pound right handed pitching prospect has a taller, lean build to him throwing out of a ¾ arm slot. Showed average mechanical work and tempo was at a slower pace. Does a nice job getting extended downhill. Fastball was 69-72 mph with glove side run and threw for strikes at the knees consistently. Curveball was 55-56 mph displaying some nice break and average command. Changeup is developing at 63-64 mph. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. A smooth swinger with a fluid loading sequence. Lower half is efficiently utilized through a leg kick and controlled stride. Hands stay loose prior to launch giving him natural whip through the zone. Path is uphill and he offers a balanced combination of strength/batspeed. Worked primarily to opposite field gap in BP, showing the ability to generate regular backspin. Liked what I saw from Skelding in the infield. Very mechanically sound with above average range for class. Actions are easy and hands are smooth. Solid defender.
