2/10/19
Body Type: 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame with obvious projectability. Continues to get more physical with still more room to add. Could be a monster physically by the time he gets to Knoxville. Swing Mechanics: Smooth easy moves that sync well. Hit: Very efficient swing that plays to all fields. Big upside with advanced combination of natural tools and feel. Creates leverage though angles allowing him to lift the ball naturally. Very intriguing bat that has a chance to become dynamic over the next few seasons. Power: 91 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Run Producer. Run: 7.19 60-yard dash. Field: Registered pop times of 1.97-2.06. Continues to get better as a catch and throw guy. Throw: 76 mph arm strength to second base. Long and lean with an athletic frame, Miller doubles as a quarterback on the high school football team. A left-handed hitter, he already shows advanced quickness with his hands, and has strong wrists that allow him to drive the barrel through the zone. He showcased a flat path through the zone, and worked gap to gap for multiple hits as I watched him. Miller uses a late hands-tilt to initiate a short load, and shows some looseness to his finish. Though possessing some natural strength, more physical development in the future will help him get more use out of his lower-half.
6/05/18
One of the more projectable bats in the state’s 2021 class. Physical tools are obvious to go along with his 6-foot-3 frame. The lefty stick flows through load incorporating athletic, efficient movements to loading sequence. Drove the ball with authority in BP, especially to pull side gap. Hit tool is already advanced for class and he still has more physical maturing to do. Has a chance to be dynamic once he twitches up. Also possesses impressive strike zone knowledge and approach in game. Behind the dish he shows solid receiving skills with above average catch and throw abilities. Time will tell if he stays back there or grows out of the position. Also worked out at third base. Actions are fluid and hands are soft. With his functional athleticism it’s a safe bet he will develop well into third or another corner spot.
Miller is a definite D1 follow. Stands 6-foot-3 with long limbs and looks to have more maturing left. A smooth swinger from the left side with impressive barrel awareness. Bat plays right now and he has a chance to be dynamic once he twitches up. One of the top left-handed bats in the state for his class. Worked out behind the plate and in the infield. Shows a higher ceiling as a catcher but displayed above average abilities in the infield if he outgrows the catcher position.
A left-handed hitter that starts in an athletic, open setup. Gets back to even through a controlled leg lift and stride. Hands stay simple prior to swing decision. Path is level to slightly downhill. Showed impressive feel for the barrel and the ability to use the entire field. Skill set is advanced for his age. Definite young bat to follow. Behind the plate he showed well above average tools all around. Footwork is clean and exchange skills were impressive. Arm has some whip to it and the ball gets out of his hand well. In the infield he moves well laterally and glove plays. Does a nice job playing low through the baseball. Arm is loose and has enough strength to stay on the left side.
A fluid swinger from the left-side. Loading sequence is simple and efficient. Path is level to slightly downhill. Impressive feel for the barrel with well-above average bat speed. Barrel gets through contact with authority. Has a three-hole look to him. Consistently sprayed line drives to both fields. Talented young hitter. Behind the plate he starts in a mid crouch. Footwork is clean and quick. Transfer skills are solid with some room to improve. Well-above average catch and throw skills for his age in general. In the infield he moves light on his feet and has a quick first step. Ball skills are well-above average for his age. Tends to play from heels at times. Project better behind the plate at this stage.
