6/16/20 Pitching Scouting Notes:Really looks the part on the mound. Athletic dude with a frame that's going to support a ton of added weight. A guy who will continue to add velo with maturity. Three pitch guy who we've recently seen up to 87 mph. Velo was down a bit today but understandable since he made a start Saturday. The fastball/breaking was on display last weekend but today he also showed a changeup that we didn't see much of saturday. The pitch was impressive, showing heavy fading action through the zone. Fastball:80-84mph Fastball Spin Rate:1995-2194 Breaking Ball: 65-67 mph Break Ball Spin Rate: 1783-2035 Changeup:70-71 mph Changeup Spin Rate:1509-1671

2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Benner uses a short, controlled leg kick to initiate his delivery. He maintains a very balanced and upright posture throughout his delivery. He throws from a low ¾ arm slot creates fairly good momentum down the mound. Fastball: The fastball was 81-84 mph and mostly true through the zone with some arm side life at times. Curveball: His breaking ball was 66-69 mph with average shape and bite. Changeup: The changeup was 71-72 mph. Pitchability: Average feel for his three pitch mix. Showed good command of his fastball but neither of his secondary offerings stood out. 2/9/20 Position Player Hit: Benner shows a simple approach and load. Has a somewhat flat bat path and his barrel could stay through the zone longer. Power: 80 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Projects more as a singles type guy with gap to gap upside. Field: In the outfield he attacks the ball with good rhythm and timing. Shows average footwork with good transfers on his throws. Clean arm action and throws carry. Throw: 85 mph from the outfield. Defensive Projection: Probably more of a corner OF type but how his speed develops will dictate if CF is an option.

2/16/19 Pitching
Body Type: 6-foot 145-pound prospect
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a smooth, athletic delivery. Hides the ball well and fastball seems to ‘jump.’
Fastball: 76-78 mph fastball was mostly true with some ‘ride’ through the zone.
Changeup: 66-67 mph changeup showed some fade and depth. Killed spin well on the pitch.
Pitchability: Benner showed really good command of both his fastball and changeup to both sides of the plate.
Role: Shows the command as a fastball/changeup guy to be an effective starter. Will need to develop some type of breaking ball as he goes up in level of competition, but Benner shows some potential as a 2022. Guy to follow.
Body Type: 6-foot, 145 pounds.Taller frame with room to fill in.
Swing Mechanics: Balanced, even stance opening up wider as he gets loaded. Shifts weight well for his age and generates momentum in his swing followed by a level bat path.
Hit: Produced average contact overall while squaring a few up with line drives sent through the middle. Power: 75 mph exit velocity. Pop present in his bat and as his body fills out, only more is coming.
Offensive Projection: Middle of the order. Run: 4.75 seconds home to first. Field: In the outfield he showed average glovework fielding the baseball as he improves on coming through the baseball. Footwork was quick for age and showed nice mobility. Throw: 80 mph from the outfield showing pure arm strength. Defensive Projection: Outfield.
11/10/18 Young arm with an uber projectable frame that should support a ton of added strength. Fluid delivery prior to arm coming through a near ¾ slot with shorter action to it. Utilizes lower half well getting down the mound with both energy and direction. Fastball is his best offering presently. Located the offering well while showing physical signs of more velocity to come. Velo currently sits in the 74-76 mph. Changeup is primary secondary offering. Does a nice job of maintaining arm speed on the offering that has some dip to it at 62-64 mph. Definite guy to follow with frame, potential for more velo and ability to locate both offerings in the zone consistently. Two-way prospect. At the plate the righty has a smooth lower half that creates both energy and timing. Barrel launches from a vertical position, giving added whip through the zone. Finds contact well, offering line drive abilities. Efficient swing in general that is one to follow as he adds strength. In the outfield he moves with fluidity and has athleticism to his actions. Corner type that has an above average, accurate arm. 60 yard dash: 7.53 Outfield Velocity: 77 Exit Velocity: 74
