6-foot-5, and 205-pound. At 6’5” the right-hander has a frame that projects for more velocity in the future. Haberthier doesn’t exert much effort working out of a low-¾ slot. A strike thrower, the fastball work from 82-86 MPH with plus run and sink creating consistent weak contact. Only secondary offering is a slurvy 10/4 breaking ball at 69-71 MPH. Presently, the pitch has more get me over, rather than swing and miss in it.
7/18/17
A 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect. The right-handed hitter positions himself in an athletic setup. Uses a double tap for timing and energy. Hands move slightly back prior to launch. Path is level with some loft. Bat speed is above average and strength is his top tool at the plate. Swings with intent, showing gap to gap pop. More left in there as he fills out projectable frame. Middle of the lineup potential. A first baseman with a solid frame for the position. Actions are athletic and he has obvious feel around the bag. Ball skills are well above average. Does a nice job creating angles with his footwork on his double play balls. Projects as an above average defender at the next level. A two-way prospect that brings projectability to the mound. Works with a fluid tempo and good rhythm. Goes with an easy, chest high leg lift prior to his stride. Lands slightly closed at foot-strike with his arm working across his body. Arm is long with some looseness, moving through a between high-¾ and ¾ slot. Arm has some whip to it. Fastball has some giddy up, with his cross fire action and slot give the pitch noticeable arm side run and sink when working away. Throws breaking ball out of the same tunnel, making it hard to differentiate out of the hand. The spinner has sharpness and depth to it, working on a 10/4 plane. Impressed with stuff and pitchability, cruising through his outing. Fastball works both sides of the plate and breaking ball can freeze or put away. Mostly set up hitters on the inner half before moving to the outer half to produce swing and miss.
