Body Type: 6-foot, 195-pound very physically built prospect. Hit: Very physical bat with fast hands through the zone. Vertical barrel launch gives him natural whip through the zone. Barrel explodes through contact with authority. Stays inside the baseball well, generating backspin to the middle of the field. Power: 91.9 mph off the bat in BP and 96 mph off the tee. Easy gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Run Producer. Run: 4.81 H-1st. Field: Good athlete behind the dish with an above average skill set across the board. Soft hands with solid receiving abilities. Limited viewing of blocking abilities. Throw: Accurate thrower with respectable arm strength. Defensive Projection: C.

Body Type: 6-foot 195-pound prospect. Swing Mechanics: Showed a balanced swing that was initiated with a toe tap load. Had strong hands but casts his barrel a bit with a flat bat path. Overall, the swing showed some good raw potential but was a bit long at times. Hit: Showed pretty good barrel control and strong hands. Power: 95 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Good raw power for a 2020 prospect but the swing doesn’t seem to maximize the raw power. Either way he shows offensive upside as a catcher. Run: 4.64 home to 1st. Field: Behind the plate Sawyer showed some decent raw skills. Showed a naturally quick arm with average footwork and a slower than desired exchange. Throw: 79 mph throws from behind the plate. Defensive Projection: As a catcher Sawyer shows some good raw natural ability. Will be important for him clean up around the edges and focus on some basic fundamental work to get more out of his raw athleticism and strength behind the plate
6/28/16
Very advanced for his age with his abilities behind the plate. Using efficient footwork and a quick transfer he registered pop times between 2.11-2.17. Arm is also well above average for his age as he threw to second base with 75 mph arm strength. At the plate he strength and batspeed stand out immediately. Has some things to clean up mechanically but the ball jumped off his bat in batting practice. Would be aided by a more efficient load. Showed gap to gap pop and reached a top exit velocity of 83 mph.
6/13/16
5-foot-10, 185-pound strong, athletic frame. Advanced physical and with his abilities behind the plate for his age. All tools behind the plate impressive and he showed toughness in game play. Pop times ranged from 2.06-2.2, and threw with 73 mph arm strength to second base. Bat is behind his defensive abilities but the tools are there. Strong kid with above average batspeed through the zone. Barreled the ball up well in batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 84 mph and ran a 4.92 from home to first.
3/19/16
5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect with strong, mature frame for his age. Skills stood out amongst his peers. Reached a top velocity of 72 mph. Feet work well behind the plate. Short arm action from high ¾ slot. Pop times ranged between 2.06 to 2.24. Overall impressive defensively. Showed strength through the zone at the plate. Smooth movements.
