5.26.17 Chaminade Julienne vs Waynesville

By: Patrick Lavelle
PBR Ohio Intern/Scout

Garrett Wissman, RHP/OF, Chaminade, 2017 (Uncommitted)
Game Report: A strong, broad shouldered 6-foot, 200-pound senior had a dominant performance against Waynesville. The senior RHP allowed a few walks, and minimal hits. The only run scored against him was after a few walks and an error. He attacked each batter, challenging them with his FB. The RHP had a good, easy delivery and would occasionally hide the ball during his delivery. Making it harder for batters to see the ball. His fastball had good life sitting 84-86 mph, topping at 88 multiple times. The CB was 73-75 mph and had a nice 11/5 to 12/6 break, he controlled the speeds of his CB which caused it at times to look like it would break a little, but instead broke a lot. The change sat 68-70 mph and was thrown with the same arm slot/angle as his FB, had little movement but kept the batters off balanced. At the plate, the RHH starts with an open stance and quick hands. Served as the cleanup hitter. He helped himself out with a couple singles and an RBI. Has average speed for his size. Has an explosive swing, that is violent through the zone. Pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 run in his win against Waynesville.

5.15.17 Pickerington Central vs New Albany

By: Drew Maxwell
PBR Ohio SW Scout/Intern

Trenton Gillison, RF/1B, Pickerington Central, 2018
Game Report: Gillison is an uncommitted junior and the #49 ranked player in the state. Gillison is a big, strong kid standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing around 240 pounds. Gillison was 1-for-3 on the day, but his bat showed a lot of pop. His single was a rope and he hit the ball deep to the warning track his next at-bat. His bat speed is impressive and his eyes seemed really good at the plate. Did not receive a lot of opportunities in RF but made the necessary plays. All in all I really like this kid’s overall game and he will be a huge piece for the team if they want to make a deep run.

5.10.17 Austintown Fitch vs Walsh Jesuit

By: Danny Matejczyk
PBR Ohio NE Scout/Intern

Kenny Misik, LHP, Austintown Fitch, 2019
Game Report: 5-foot-11, 205-pound Southpaw that plays with a lot of passion. Misik seems to have flown under the radar this season, but the sophomore has caught the eye of at least one division one program. The left-hander throws from a ¾ arm slot. His fastball has a lot of late movement that runs away from right handed hitters. He settled in at 80-83 with the fastball and 72-75 with a 12/6 curve. Misik did a great job controlling the run game picking a runner off and making many others move back to the base on throws to the plate. His final stat line: 6 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 1 earned, 7 strikeouts, and 3 walks.

5.9.17 SVSM vs Springfield

By: Danny Matejczyk
PBR Ohio NE Scout/Intern

Jacob Connery, C, STVM, 2018
Game Report: 6-foot-3, 190-pound catcher. He has the size to play at the next level if he continues to put on muscle. Connery throws from a ¾ arm slot and stays on top of the ball. Pop times ranged from 2.04-2.15. He does a decent job not overselling frames. Offensively, he uses a simple slide step load to gather momentum towards the ball. Went 1-3 on the day with a hard hit ball to the left side.

5.8.17 Watkins Memorial vs Lancaster

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Zach Schone, SS, Watkins Memorial, 2018
Game Report: The son of Head Coach Done Schone and it shows with his instincts and baseball IQ. Stands out for his abilities defensively. Frame fits the mold of a middle infielder and actions are smooth and athletic. Glove skills are impressive in and outside of his funnel. Arm is strong enough to stay on the left-side of the infield at the next level. Small sample size but looks to have the skillset to stay at shortstop moving forward. At the plate he possess average present pop/bat speed with more left in the tank. Mechanically he is very simple in his pre-launch movements before his short, compact swing. Approach and strike zone awareness are well above average.

5.8.17 Defiance vs Archbold

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief/NW Scout

Logan Andonian, RHP, Defiance, 2018
Game Report: 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher with projectable frame. Short arm action coming from 3/4 slot.  The fastball sat 84-87 on this occasion. The put-out pitch is a sharp 74-77 mph 12/6 curve with good depth. On the season Logan has been coming in relief and has a 0.29 ERA in 24 innings of work against a good schedule.
