Body Type: 6-foot-5, 180 pounds. Taller, lean athlete with room to fill in. Swing Mechanics: Hits from a wide stance showing quick hands while getting on plane early with pitches. Fluid swing process as he generates energy well in his load prior to attacking pitches with solid intent. Hit: Made solid contact all throughout his round. Put flight on the ball often showing off pop. Power stroking lefty with solid barrel action. Power: 90 mph exit velocity. Power to all fields presented. Big bat. Offensive Projection: Middle of the order, run producer. Run: 4.53 seconds home to first. Field: Showed nice glove action with his hands along with his athleticism in the infield. Feet moved well with fluid movement. Presented strong arm from both the infield and outfield which stood out. As an outfielder he fields it great and works through the baseball very well. Footwork displayed nice mobility overall too. Throw: 81 mph across the diamond. 90 mph from the outfield. Defensive Projection: Outfield with infield potential too.
6/06/18
Very interesting prospect. Upside is obvious being a 6-foot-5, lefty bat. Thomas efficiently incorporates lower half through a toe turn load, while keeping hands simple prior to launch. Swing offers more present strength than speed through the zone. Impressive feel for the barrel and with his length he can really go damage when he gets extended. Expect more pop as he fills out frame. At third base he looks comfortable and athletic. Moves well for frame and maintains fluid actions throughout fielding. An above average skill set in general.
A third baseman he uses short, quick footwork approaching the baseball. Moves well laterally and stays athletic on the move. Glove skills are well above average for his age. Looks to be a solid. At the plate he starts in a balanced setup from the right side. Uses a simple, yet efficient approach mechanically. Path is slightly downhill and swing is compact. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice. Line drive type guy, flashing gap potential.
6-foot-1, 145-pound thin, projectable frame. Starts in a wider setup and uses a no stride approach with a toe turn to initiate his lower half. Hands move back prior to getting through the zone on a level path. Better to his pull side. Registered an exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 5.13 from home to first. In the infield he has some fluidity to his footwork and confidence to his glove. Would like to see him play lower.
