Thomas Answers The Call To Play In The ACC
Hank Thomas 3B / OF / Saint Xavier, OH / 2020Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 1
OXFORD - The recruiting process for Hank Thomas began with interest from one Atlantic Coast Conference school. It ended with a commitment to another. “It means a lot,” the St. Xavier junior said about deciding on Georgia Tech as a future home. “I’m proud to say I can play in the ACC.” It was a whirlwind summer for the 15th-ranked player in the state’s 2020 class. “I wasn’t sure what to expect going in,” Thomas said about his recruitment. “Duke and Dayton early in the summer were the first to show interest. I thought that maybe more local schools would talk to me, but then interest came from Georgia Tech and I jumped on it.” While the Top Prospect Games helped kick start the recruiting with Dayton among those taking a liking to Thomas, Georgia Tech saw the 6-5 180-pounder at a 15U Wood Bat Tournament in the south later in the summer. “Our team played well,” Thomas noted in reference to the Cincinnati Spikes. “We made the final 16 out of 300-some teams and I hit a grand slam. Georgia Tech offered me after that tournament . I went to the campus and it was awesome.” A 4.0 student, Thomas had more praise for the university. “It’s a great school, one of the best engineering schools in the country,” Thomas said. “It has a great baseball program. It doesn’t get better than that.” |
