WNY NY (September 2017):
Curtis stands in at 6-foot-0, 155-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Lefty sets up slightly open with his feet close together. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat in front of his torso using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a slight knee raise to stride forward squaring up with the pitcher while his hands move back into the hitting position. Gets good lower body rotation utilizing the whole-body frame in the swing. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with an upward level barrel action throughout into a mid one-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with gap to gap ability during batting practice rounds. Overall a good swing with a lot of room for growth. Recorded an exit velocity of 79 MPH. Defensively- Moves well to the baseball with a good approach and footwork. Gets underneath and shows a good transition from catch to the throwing position gaining ground throughout the process of the throw. Could follow through more to finish the throw. Was accurate and moves well left/right and on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 73 MPH. Pitching- Sets up on the left side of the rubber with a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good separation into a mid ¾ release point. Could engage lower half into the delivery with a better follow though to get in a good fielding position. Will come with more strength and development. Fastball range was 75-76 MPH and peaked at 76 MPH showing arm side run. Also featured a Knuckleball that showed 63-64 MPH with some drop. Overall a young talented prospect to keep an eye on at future events
