Chiarito measures 5-foot-11, 185-pounds with a muscular frame. Chiarito ran a 7.65 60.Offensively- Pre-pitch bat waggle with a smooth swing and quick hands through the zone. Level swing with line drive results with middle of the field approach. Lower body coil with very smooth upper body transition on follow through. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH. Pitching-Left side rubber setup to small side step with coil at balance point. Arm slot at 3/4 with power push off and backside wheel through. Fastball peaked at 80 MPH with slight arm side run. Curveball ranged from 69-70 MPH with 12-6 action low in the zone. Change up was consistent at 74-75 MPH with downward arm side movement. Might consider taking slight velocity off change up but downward movement is effective.. Pitching- Left side rubber setup to small side step with coil at balance point. ¾ arm slot with power push off and backside wheel through. Fastball peaked at 80 MPH with slight armside tail. Curveball ranged from 70-71 MPH with 12-6 action low in the zone. Change-up was consistent at 72-73 MPH with downward arm side movement. Shows accuracy and command on all pitches.
Chiarito, a 2018 right-handed hitting third-baseman/pitcher, stands at 5-foot-11 and a solid 165 pounds, ran a 7.69 60. Offensively- Starts with an upright slightly open stance. Hands are held above the back shoulder, with bat almost completely straight up and down. Initiates the swing with a moderate leg kick and stride towards the pitcher while the hands create separation staying above and now off the back shoulder. Showed good pull side drive from the line to the gap. Showed the ability to get to the pitch on the inner third and drive it with authority. Could increase the exit velocity of 70 MPH, if the top hand can get through the ball after contact, creating better extension. Defensively- Showed soft-hands and good agility from the third base position. Transfer from a funneling to the center of the body, using a traditional shorter arm action. Throws showed accuracy and carry, however can improve the 70 MPH velocity shown, if the footwork and throwing can be more in sync. Tends to have a very wide base when receiving, then uses a cross over throwing footwork rather than the traditional right-to-left and left to the target. Pitching- Starts from the center of the rubber with the hands held in front of the chest. Takes a slight side step towards the first base foul line lifting the lead leg waist high while the hands stay centered in front of the chest. Gets separation early enough to keep the arm in sync with the lower half of the body and getting good extension on release. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot, with the fastball showing some arm side run and while topping out at 78 MPH. Showed a willingness to pitch to both sides of the plate and challenge hitters during the live scrimmage. Curveball topped out at 72 MPH and showed tight spin with 11-to-5 action. Changeup showed good differential from the fastball at 71 MPH while showing depth and consistent rotation.
