Physical: Durable, athletic starter’s build at 6-foot, 180lbs.
Pitching: RHP - Started off of the right side of the rubber from the stretch-only. Higher leg lift with fluid actions into footstrike using drop/drive in the delivery. Created good separation at release from a H ¾ slot and got arm-speed on the front side. The FB ranged from 87-89 mph with high spin traits (2450rpms+) and played up in velo with some extension on top of hitters (6.2 feet AVG). Mixed a hard-sweeping 75-77 mph SL that clipped 2567rpms and then killed/faded a low 80’s CH to the arm-side out of a similar window.
6/28/21
Physical: Twitchy, athletic 5-foot-11, 170lb frame with feel for his body and two-way abilities. 6.95 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, shoulder-width start as the hands operated loosely at the head. Utilized a short lift and replace stride on-time with a barrel tip, initiating through a smooth, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Connected early in the swing producing loud contact to all fields, working gap to gap in the approach. Mature hitter that found barrels consistently up to a T96 mph bat-exit velocity (via Trackman). Posted an impressive 50% line drive rate / 80% hard hit rate split, pointing towards a great chance to hit for average at the next level. A 346 foot batted ball distance suggests big time juice when getting the bat head out at extension, hinting at home-run power to pull.
Defensively: The outfielder demonstrated a quick first step and low posture on the approach, stayed behind the baseball while fielding off the left side and showed off a deliberate, downhill crow hop before releasing from H ¾ slot. Able to work at a quick pace during game action; loud arm strength to the target out of a full arm-circle (89 mph, accurate, carry).
Pitching: RHP - Started out of the stretch-only off the left side of the rubber; quick leg lift to an above-average height, getting down the slope with good athleticism into footstrike. Repeated and landed in-line towards the plate, using a quick arm to pound the zone at 84-86, T87 mph (strikes, 2462 rpms, occasional hop). Mixed a hard-sweeping 74-76 mph CB for swing/miss when ahead in counts, up to T13 inches of horizontal movement.
