NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Long Island Top Prospect (January 16, 2017)
Dorfman, a 2019 right-handed hitting first baseman/RHP, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 180 pounds, ran a 4.56 from home to first. Offensively- Works from an upright square lower, well balanced with some slight bend in both knees, while the hands are above the back shoulder and barrel of the bat parallel to the ground. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a lifting of the front foot, striding forward, while the hands are loaded straight back staying inside and even with the back shoulder and barrel of the bat elevating to 45 degrees with a warp towards the pitcher. Displayed an ability to drive the ball well from the pull side to opposite field gap, keeping the hands back behind the rotation of the hips as well as staying compact to the ball. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH on the day. Defensively- Little to no pre-pitch movement, with the hands in front of the body and feet shoulder width apart. Fields the ball in front of the body in a strong athletic position with feet slightly more than shoulder width apart. Transfers the ball from the center of the body waist high keeping the upper and lower half in good sequence. Throws showed good accuracy and registered an arm velocity of 76 MPH. Pitching- Worked from the center of the rubber with the hands in front of the body. Stuck the landing, keeping a strong and tight front side with good back leg extension. The fastball, thrown from a high ¾ arm angle, topped out at 77 MPH, showing quality arm side run as well as command to both sides of the plate staying in the lower third of the zone. The slider, topping out at 69 MPH, displayed tight rotation and had sharp 10-to-4 shape.
