Physical: 5-foot-11, 175 pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 7.07 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat to start. Extended take back of the hands with a toe-tap for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a long swing path with a late one hand finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 93 MPH via Trackman. Gap to gap approach with pull side pop. Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; while staying in an elevated position. Hands are firm with a seamless transfer. Short take back from a high/over the top arm slot. 2.37-2.45 pop times. C - 70 MPH. Showed a quick transfer and release with accuracy around the base.
10/30/21
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 155lb frame with room to add. 7.49 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH - Wider, slightly open stance as the hands operated just outside the shoulder to start. Utilized a toe-tap stride to initiate the swing through a flat, short path into the zone. Held direction well and produced a consistent middle of the field approach during his batting practice round (73% line drive rate via Trackman, 301 foot distance). Clean, loose actions with lots of confidence at the plate; featured ready bat to ball skills and worked towards a simple one-handed finish on the backside. Recorded a T88 mph peak bat-exit (82 mph average) with more coming.
Defensively: The primary catcher displayed a down to up receive out of a traditional crouch position (moderate posture). Pop times ranged from 2.31-2.38, doing a good job of driving the hips/shoulders in-line to the target before release. Room to quicken the transfers to a H slot on the release (short arm circle, 70 mph arm, accurate).
2/14/20

Arm: Lower 3/4 arm slot; good action behind it; long arm swing. INF - 70 MPH.
9/22/19
Offensively- the left handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Displayed short quick path to the baseball. Natural bat whip through the hitting zone. Hard contact to the middle part of the field. Defensively, the infielder displayed active footwork. Takes his time to gather himself when throwing the baseball across the diamond. Wert has solid actions and will be a player to follow as he continues to develop.
