Keeps hitting base wide and uses toe tap for timing, no forward move. Stays balanced throughout swing and keeps hands inside of the ball. Exit velocity was 73 MPH. Defensively – Fields with a low center of gravity. Funnels ball in center of his body. Shows body control while moving laterally. Quick exchange getting into low ¾ release point. Arm strength was 65 MPH.
St. John Fisher - Aug 7, 2018 Stands 5-foot-10, 175 pounds. – Simple pace to his delivery, back circular arm-action, high over the top slot, fastball peaked 60-61 mph, CB 48 mph with side-to-side shape. 3B – Wide base, lets ball get deep in stance, high arm-slot on release, 65 mph arm strength. Offensively – Square, upright stance with slight knee bend. Hands work inside of the ball and showed harder contact to backside. Compact swing with no wasted movement. Balanced thru his finish. Exit velocity of 70 mph.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Hurwitz is a 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed third baseman. Ran a 8.53 60. Offensively- Starts with feet further than shoulder width apart in a bit of a crouch. Starts hands near front shoulder and hitches them back on load. A lot going on during swing process. Exit velocity of 67 MPH. High one handed finish. Defensively- Good footwork allows him to move to the ball well. Receives ball as opposed to attacking it. Hands make up for lack of aggressiveness. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a slight hitch in his throwing motion. 68 MPH arm strength.
