Reed is a slight yet athletic 5-foot-6; 150 pound RHP/2B who ran a respectable 7.03 60. Offensively- Reed starts from a narrow; open stance with his hands almost in the center of his body. Controlled; extended load back with slight drop of barrel angle; stride gets back to even and stays behind the ball well. Short compact stroke into the zone with and extended two-hand finish. Line drive/ground ball results; exit velocity 78 MPH. Put together tough at bats during live games; table setter approach. Defensively- Projects best at 2B; can sit back on the ball and field underneath. Short, quick release with prototypical infielder’s arm action from a low ¾ slot. Good bounce in his step when moving laterally; accelerates well. Hands out in front when fielding along with more momentum in his approach will only help. Arm strength across the diamond peaked at 76 MPH. Pitching- On the mound Reed had a bulldog approach with a FB that sat 77-79 MPH. Uses a controlled; deliberate build up to a mid chest high balance point. Stays compact out his balance point with his stride staying on the 3B side; gets up and over front side with late hand whip. Curveball featured sharp 1-to-7 action; legitimate secondary offering with late downward bite. Scrappy player overall who may project slightly better on the mound but yet serviceable as a dual player.
