Physical: Thick, durable 5-foot-11, 185lb frame with active feel for his body and athleticism available. 7.19 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly bent stance at a narrow position as the hands operated up/down by the ear. Utilized a directional lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher, initiating the bat head through a flat, quick path into the hitting zone. Flashed an immediate trigger and ability to consistently hit the ball at the front of the plate; stayed on a line through the middle of the field during his BP round, working up to an 89 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman. Mostly singles power at the moment, but was able to control the barrel and situationally hit.
Defensively: The outfielder approached with good timing in the feet, arriving with a soft glove hand presented off his left side. Funneled smoothly, using a crow hop in rhythm, releasing from a medium, OTT slot to the plate (accurate, 82 mph). Corner outfield projection down the road.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the middle, left side of the rubber with some pace to the delivery, got to a shorter stack position and held connection down the slope, landing athletically into footstrike and pounding the zone at 79-81 mph with big carry numbers on the FB (21 inches average IVB via Trackman). Mixed a quality 66-68 mph SL at 2034rpms, biting across the plate and countered with a commanded 68-71 mph CH that faded to arm-side and appeared often in the arsenal.
3/21/21
Pitching: Short side step before diving knee up to the chest while the hands go high, gets into back side as glides out to a slightly open landing and repeatable finish with the ability to tunnel all 4 pitches.
FB: Pounds the zone with +arm side run up to 24" that will play well down in the zone. CB: Quality 2-plane break with 11-5 shape. SL: Shorter, tight lateral break. CH: Good speed differential out of FB release point with heavy arm side fade.
2/18/21
Physical: Stocky, well put together 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame with natural strength in the actions; feel for the body throughout. 7.10 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - The righty started from a wide, even stance with a slight bend in the knees; the hands started loose and idle on the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with a sudden acceleration into the zone through a slight uphill path. Held direction and posture well throughout the swing with impressive ground power at the plate, stayed behind the ball creating leverage and a standout 58% line drive rate during batting practice. Pull-side approach while adjusting to pitches in most, if not all quadrants of the plate. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph / 301 foot max batted ball distance per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary outfielder was smooth during defensive evaluations; got good reads immediately off the bat with down chest angles, big crow hop with a live throwing arm from an OTT slot (82 mph arm) … The third baseman played low to the ground while working right to left at the fielding window, soft glove hand showing out in front with nice posture, accurate 80 mph arm strength across the diamond.
7/22/20
Physical: Solid combination of athleticism and sneaky strength in a lean 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with room for added strength as he matures. 7.18 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Tall, balanced stance with a slight bend at the knees, the hands showed loose rhythm at the shoulder. Utilized a quick leg-lift stride to initiate a quick triggered, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone with plenty of hand speed at impact. Showcased high level bat to ball skills while repeatedly contacting the ball at the front of the plate. Displayed a pull-side approach during batting practice peppering the LCF gap with line drives; recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 83 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary outfielder featured solid feel for lateral movements coupled with a quick first step yielding downhill movements through the baseball during defensive evaluations. A soft glove hand fielded the ball off of the left side of his body on the approach, was able to stay behind the baseball in the air allowing an accurate, high arm slot to play accurately towards the target. OF - 80 mph
Pitching: RHP - Quick side rocker step with a deliberate tempo in the delivery, sits down into the backside before separating and driving the leg towards the plate with a feel for direction, the arm worked out of a high slot with fall off towards the first base side of the rubber. FB ranged from 71-74 mph with command in the zone, mixed in a slow breaking 58-60 mph CB with 11/5 shape and late depth. Displayed a 66-67 mph CH with near fastball arm speed on the release.

12/16/17
Finocchario is a 5-foot-4 RHP/OF weighing in at 125 pounds. He ran an improved 9.17 60. Offensively- Sets up slightly open with feet right at shoulder width apart. Finocchario has a bat wiggle that instigates his weight transfer to his back side. His leg kick is a little exaggerated for his size, which sometimes translates to him opening his hips a little too early, but can be adjusted very easily. His hands start at shoulder height and glide right through the zone; his barrel stays through the zone for a long time. He laces line drives and ground balls to all fields with a stronger tendency to pull. Exit velocity was 63 MPH. Defensively- Finocchario shows consistent outfield technique in his footwork, fielding the ball properly outside his lead leg. He gets rid of the ball quickly, with a smooth transition of fielding to crow hop. He has a release similar to his pitching style. Will need to maintain his momentum through the ball with his crowhop, whereas right now he seems to stop immediately as he releases the ball. Arm strength peaked at 63 MPH. Pitching- Works from the stretch in the middle of the rubber with his front leg a little closed off. His hands rest at his belt, and his leg comes up to a balanced position. His fastball peaked at 60 MPH, but ranged from 58-59 MPH; consistent strike thrower. He hides the ball well from the batter and shows an excellent potential number two pitch in his changeup which has downward movement and looks just like his fastball out of his hand with nearly a 10 MPH difference in speed. Curveball was 53-54 MPH.
Last Chance Preview (October 14, 2017)
Finocchario stands in at 5-foot-3, 125-pounds with a lean frame. Ran a 9.71 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with a narrow and open stance with his feet inside shoulder width. Shows a vertical body holding his bat in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a toe tap back before a knee raise in to a stride forward squaring up with the pitcher while his hands move back slightly to get into his hitting position. Lower body rotation could be more aggressive to get the whole body frame involved. Shows quick hands to the zone with a level bat path throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated potential line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Will improve with more reps and added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 61 MPH. Defensively- Good approach to the ball to set up the throw. Transition from the glove to the throwing hand could be quicker while gaining ground toward the intended target. Shows a good arm swing that would improve with more reps, strength, and downhill throwing motion. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 58 MPH. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good separation into a high release point. Could engage lower half into the delivery with a better follow though to get in a good fielding position. Will come with more strength and development. Fastball range was 59-61 MPH and peaked at 61 MPH showing arm side run. Curveball was 53-54 MPH with 12/6 action. Change up was 54-56 MPH with good sink. Will need to develop more of a velocity difference off the fastball. Overall, shows promise with continued improvement and added strength.
