Physical: Leveraged, projectable 5-foot-11, 160lb frame with athleticism. 7.60 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Narrow, open stance as the hands operated up/down on the shoulder to begin. Utilized a leg lift stride outwards to the pitcher, able to initiate through a flat, direct path into the hitting zone. Very repeatable setup offensively, finding consistent barrels through the middle of the field with high-level efficiency. Posted a T84 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman en route to a 27% line drive rate with ability to hit for some average down the road. Additional power coming, as he worked up to a 262 foot batted ball distance with occasional doubles juice to pull when getting extended.
Defensively: The middle infielder showed comfort moving to his left hand side, fielding low to the ground with a soft glove-hand that funneled accurately inward. Kept the feet moving/shuffling to the target, releasing from a H ¾ slot with a quicker trigger at times (77 mph arm).
2/15/21
Physical: Long, 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame developing athleticism in the actions. 7.75 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Slightly open, crouched stance with the hands starting upright at shoulder height. Utilized a short leg lift stride coupled with a quick A-to-B barrel through a flat path into the hitting zone to initiate his swing. Adjustable posture showed the ability to manipulate the bat head from horizontal to vertical at times, recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 81 mph per Trackman Baseball; a 30% line drive rate was seen with punch through the middle of the field. Room for more as he continues adding strength.
Defensively: The primary middle infielder flashed good reads off the bat with feel for lateral movements to the glove side, stayed under the ball when fielding at a low position, whippy high ¾ slot with length in the takeaway (76 mph).
7/22/20
Physical: Long and lean 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. 7.82 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Tall, slightly open stance with the hands showing slight rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a leg-hang stride to initiate a flat barrel path through the hitting zone with plenty of long levers working inside the baseball and well through extension. Peppered the pull-side with line drives and hard contact during batting practice while hitting into a stiff and adjustable front side. The upper half rotates with intent towards contact. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 85 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary shortstop arrived to the baseball on time and fielded off of the middle of his body, cutting off momentum through the fielding window. Played low to the ground with a soft glove hand and feel for the glove hand side, an accurate throwing arm worked across the diamond out of a high ¾ slot with a long arm swing. SS - 79 mph
2/14/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 130-pounds. Tall, lean build, plenty of room to fill out. Run: 7.83 runner in the 60. Hit: RHH. Even feet with shoulders; good leg kick; short stride; hands start high then drop and go back with load High finish; uphill swing path; two-handed finish. Power: 76 MPH raw exit velocity. Good contact also consistent to middle; power to pull side, still more in tank. Defense: Attacks to ball great; active feet; squares up baseball; gets under control before makes throw. Arm: Long arm action into a 3/4 arm slot. INF - 73 MPH.
9/22/19
Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Simple load actions. Displayed a flat bat path through the hitting zone. Hard consistent contact to the opposite side of the field. Defensively- the outfielder has an aggressive approach to the baseball. Stays balanced throughout the swing. Congdon has a lean athletic frame and will be once to watch as he continues to develop.
