Benjamin Raphael: 3B/SS, (2023) Briarcliff, NY. 6-foot, 195-pound projectable athletic build. Projectable and capable during batting practice, Raphael clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. (69.4 mph bat speed average). (21.6 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a small load, then uses a small stride. Bat speed was developing, displaed a loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable and capable while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 72 mph; showed developing soft hands, developing consistent feet, and a natural exchange. Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.73.
Physical: Strong, proportional 6-foot, 185lb frame with some durability. 7.57 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance with the barrel waving at the shoulder to start; utilized a short lift and replace stride, operating with a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. The barrel matched pitch-plane early in ball flight, working towards a two-handed finish on the back shoulder. Hit into a stiff front side with adjustability producing a 60% line drive rate during his round (via Trackman). Minimal extra movements allowing the actions to repeat, notching a T88 mph bat-exit velocity (84 mph average) and showcased a near 300 foot batted ball distance for occasional doubles juice.
Defensively: The shortstop demonstrated good routes on defense, rounding the ball downhill to the target with the chest downhill over toes. Fielded soft, cleanly inward and exchanged accurately, releasing from a H ¾ slot (79 mph arm strength).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the left side of the rubber using quicker pace and a simple delivery. Able to work in a straight line down the slope, landing athletically into a H ¾ slot. The FB ranged from 75-76 mph with small arm-side run, adding a commanded, sweeping 66-68 mph CB with a 100% zone rate (T10 inches HM).
Physical: Strong, athletic build at 6-ffot, 185 lbs. 7.29 runner in the 60.
Offensively: Upright, balanced stance with the feet wide and slightly open while the hands start up in front of the back shoulder; short stride back to even while the hands stretch back creating a barrel tilt; average effort from the lower half while the barrel is direct to contact with a slight uphill finish with 2 hands; consistent hard line drive contact with a peak exit velo of 87 MPH.
Defensively: Active foot work playing low to the ground and through the ball routinely; glove hand is soft with seamless transfers; arm action is short to a 3/4 release. INF: 77 MPH
Physical: 5-foot-10, 170 pounds; lean, athletic build. 7.45 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Wide, balanced base with feet even and a slight bend in the knees with hands up in front of the shoulder; knee knock stride with hands going straight back. strong effort into a stiff front side with quick into the zone with a slight up hill finish and a 78% on plane efficiency. hard line drives through the middle and pull side; peak Trackman exit velocity of 83 MPH.
Defensively: Uses prep step; plays low to the ground with athletic footwork playing through the ball. sofy glove fielding the ball in front with clean, quick transfers; short arm action with ability to vary release with the play. INF - 74 MPH.
Physical: 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Lanky frame; athletic; able to hold more weight. 7.29 runner in the 60; 4.39 home-to-1B.
Offensively: RHH. Even feet with shoulder width; hands high; slight bend in his knees; slightly open; toe tap for timing; closes himself off some when strides out Hands direct to contact; quick through the zone; two-handed finish; stays inside the ball. Middle of the field approach; consistent contact hitter. 76 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Stays low with the ball; quick transfer; fields the ball out front; keeps the ball center of his body; able to play on the run. Low 3/4 arm slot; medium arm swing. INF - 73 MPH.
Pitching: Up tempo delivery with a repeatable release and balanced follow through. Drops straight down out of the glove before getting up quick to a 3/4 release.
FB: T75, 73-74 MPH. Commands with natural cut.
SL: 66-69 MPH. Sharp 12-6 break.
CH: 68-69 MPH. Good hand speed with arm side fade.
A lean athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 145 pounds. Offensively- the right handed hitter had an impressive performance at the NY Jr. Games. Displayed hard consistent contact during the batting practice portion and was an impact player during live game action. Short direct path to the baseball and good use of the lower half. Defensively- the infield displayed active footwork during the defensive session. He gets himself in a good fielding position when attacking the baseball. Quicks rid of the baseball quickly. Top throwing velocity across diamond was 75 MPH. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and a projectable live arm. Raphael displayed good FB command peaked at 75 MPH. Mixed in a SL ranging from 68-70 MPH.
6-foot, 145-pound, smaller, thin athletic frame, with room for added weight. Defensively, very good flow, moves well to glove side. The arm works out of a natural slot, arm was clocked at 76 mph, above average arm strength for his age. Showed solid starts and turns up the middle on double play turns. At the plate, feet are even, taller stance, higher loose hands. The swing is level through the zone, has good pop had a tee exit velocity of 67 mph. The swing is short to contact gets through it. Off the mound, quick tempo, gets the delivery moving down the mound, could stay back a tick. The front side could track more to home plate. The arm works out of a 3/4 slot, arm side run, fastball clocked at 74 mph. Shows feel for the spin pitch, clocked at 66-69 mph, more of a 12-6 breaker. Good looking young player, who will be attending the Junior Futures Event.
