Strong, 6-foot-1 205, Nguyen has a well-built body with present strength. He runs well for his size and may be able to play some outfield. At first base, he has developing infield actions and footwork around the bag. He displays an understanding for multiple angle throws on double play feeds and plays on bunts. As a hitter, he sets up with high hands loading to an off-shoulder power position with good separation on stride. He has a solid combination of strength and bat speed with good barrel release that makes it easy to see the future power potential. He displayed the ability to drive the ball to all fields.
2/10/19 -Thick, 6-foot, 210, Nguyen has a stocky, strong body with a developed lower half. He moves well for his size and is a better underway runner than one would expect. He has capable infield actions with a longer draw on his arm which keeps him at first base. Make no mistake, Nguyen’s bat is going to carry him. He has great balance at the plate, keeping his weight between his feet throughout the process. He trusts his strength and bat speed and has solid barrel release with a high finish, providing recognizable power. He posted the second best exit velocity at 102 mph, which exemplifies the whip in his barrel. Hard to believe he is a freshman with the feel he has as a hitter, this guy projects as a middle of the order type bat.
