8/18/19

Uncommitted 5-foot-9 130.  Brooks has a medium frame, lean with wiry strength. He is not going to “WOW” onlookers with flashy tools but this young man can play the game. His stats are respectable, and he is fundamentally sound at the plate as well as in the field. He offers some multiple position utility with his natural position being corner outfield.  Offensively, he used the whole field, making consistent quality line drive contact in two solid rounds of batting practice. He can handle the bat which provides for good next level execution. Defensively, he is in complete control of his body and actions which allows for a solid transition to release and efficient on target throws. With size and strength increases in his future, Brooks will look to make an impact down the road.

6/10/19

Brooks possesses a solid skill set. He is a lean, 5-foot-8 130, outfielder with a max positional velocity of 83 to accompany a true and accurate throwing arm. He moves around the outfield easily with good fielding actions and efficient mechanics. At the plate, he makes consistent quality contact with a line drive approach to all fields. Weight and strength improvements could play up present tools, but easy to see Brooks as an uber utility type player at the next level.

On the mound, Brooks is a capable strike thrower with solid pitch definition and feel to pitch. He has a quick arm and repeatable delivery. His fastball was up to 82 but with size and strength gains could pitch at the next level. The curveball ranged 70-72 with good spin and consistent depth.  The change was firm but maintained arm speed deception. Brooks has a lot to offer and could be a find for someone looking to play the long game

2/10/19 -Small Frame, 5-foot-8, 130, Brooks has a projectable frame with a solid skill set.  He displays confident outfield actions with a solid feel for throwing footwork and clean exchange.  Furher development of his footwork with a right over left release could lend some added carry to his throws. He has a long true arm action that delivers on line throws and utilizes a long a long hop when necessary. On the mound, he has a long loose arm action and repeatable delivery.  In spite of limited leverage, he consistently threw down hill relying on plane over life with his fastball, ranging 75-76.  His breaking ball had solid definition with consistent arm speed as did his changeup. His delivery and arm action lead me to believe there is much more in this young man.  Possibly a late physical bloomer, that will make a jump in the next few years.  His youthful appearance along with stature but his polish and poise make me believe his best days are ahead.  I am going to keep a close eye on this guy. the plate, Brooks maintains a fluid approach with a down to level swing and high finish.  He has balance throughout his swing and makes consistent quality contact.  Size and strength gains and natural maturation will propel a polished set of actions into a nice player down the line. Keep a close watch on this guy in the years ahead.
