2.17.18

Baxter has a lean and athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.89 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 90 MPH, one of the tops at the event. Starts at the plate in an open and relaxed stance. Hands begin above shoulder height, close to his body. Pre-pitch rhythm. Small leg kick. Brings hands down and back during his load, brings elbow parallel to the ground. Short to the ball with explosiveness. Extremely athletic lower half. Easy bat speed, will hit line drives to all fields. Defensively, took reps as an outfielder. Recorded a top velo of 86 MPH. Doesn’t break stride when approaching the baseball. Momentum stays toward target. Does not waste any movement, gets rid of baseball quickly. Made strong throws from a high 3/4 arm slot.

2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Baxter has a lean, athletic build at 5-foot-10 140-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.70-seconds, one of the top times from the event. Recorded an exit velocity of 86 MPH. Offensively – starts with an opened stance and hands above back shoulder. Uses a small leg lift and stride to square body to homeplate as pitch comes in. Hands load up and back. Line drive hitter with gap to gap potential, Baxter has one of the highest ceiling of anyone from the event. Smooth, effortless pop with swift, east hands through the zone and a balanced finish with some lift. Defensively – took reps from the outfield, throws topped at 83 MPH with a long, loose arm action from a high-3/4 slot. Throws were on-line and accurate. Still room to grow and add muscle to frame, Baxter is a top prospect to watch for in the 2020 class in New Jersey.

Futures Preview South (June  4th, 2017)

Baxter has a slender, athletic build at 5-foot-9 140-pounds with room to put on muscle. Ran a 7.20 60 yard dash, recorded an outfield velocity of 82 MPH and exit velocity of 84 MPH. Offensively, Baxter put on one of the better batting practices of the session for his age group. Smoothness and fluidity to his swing, Baxter starts in an opened stance with his hands in line with his back shoulder and bat wrapped around head. Uses a leg lift and stride to start swing. Shows some elasticity in swing and finish. Defensively- shows instinctual actions in the outfield. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with some carry and backspin. Throws were on target. Interesting looking prospect to watch as he continues to physically mature.
