Dad played at Clemson and in big leagues for Twins. Switch-hitter, better from the left side. Needs to add strength. Fringy runner. Good actions, hands. Chance to stay at shortstop. Lacks a carrying tool.
5/16/19: High waisted, lean infielder with good present athleticism. Not a burner, but runs well when he gets underway. Rangy SS with advanced feel for the position. Soft hands and smooth footwork around the bag are paired with a strong arm capable of making throws from any position on the left side of the infield. (Made a backhand play from deep in the 6 hole in game 1 of the Wake Forest series) Switch hitter has a controlled approach at the plate with a soft stride and quiet load. Worked himself into multiple advantage counts during this game and showed a consistent understanding of the strike zone. Moderate raw power is present and will continue to develop with maturation. Competes with a calm and controlled savvy. (Tisdale)
8/15/18: Athletic, long bodied infielder who plays low. Plus hands, fluid actions. Above average arm. Average runner underway, 4.28 down the line from the left side. Left-handed swing was long and loopy swing with a weak top hand. Somewhat typical of guys who bat on the opposite side of their throwing side. Caused him to lose the barrel much too soon in his swing. Starts hands high to start swing, gets them late into slot. Two-part swing. Sweeps bat through zone. Found the barrel much more often from the right side. Smoother swing with more rhythm than left. Near average present raw power with potential for plus in future; he should fill out and add plenty of strength to his current six-foot-three, 190 pound frame. On my looks, I did not see a top of the first-round type of prospect which were the media predictions going into the summer, but I did see an athletic switch-hitter who should be able to stay on the dirt. With a poor offensive showing this summer in the Cape (.194/.292/.266) Davidson must go gangbusters this spring if he wants to vault into early Day One draft conversations. (Seifert)
