The Cape Cod League season is now complete with the Wareham Gateman taking home the hardware as champions. As the players head back to school for class and fall baseball workouts, we begin our rankings of the top prospects eligible for the 2019 MLB Draft (June 3-5).

A common feeling in the scouting community is that if you can hit in the Cape, you have a good chance of hitting in professional baseball. And, on the flip side, if you don't hit in the Cape, you will likely struggle in the pro ranks. Hitters hit and an eight-week Cape season is a great measuring stick to gauge who can swing the wood and who can't. With that said, our list does include a couple prospects who struggled with the bat throughout the summer, but their positional value of playing up the middle and on the dirt increases their draft value.

Our rankings are based both on what we saw in the Cape this summer and how the players have performed in previous spring and summer seasons. In cases where we have seen a player perform differently than what the industry has “seen”, we consider both, but side with what our eyes tell us. Our rankings are based on tools, skills, performance and on-field makeup such as competitiveness, aggressiveness, confidence and body language. Our rankings don’t consider several areas that professional organizations spend a great deal of time and resources gathering; signability, medical information, personality/psychology results, to name just a few.

Without further ado, here's our ranking of the top 2019 draft eligible position players who appeared in the Cape this summer.
