Arguably the biggest winner of our entire summer circuit, C Xander Schmitt (Lafayette, 2024) became the first Missouri player to capture MVP honors at the Future Games. There, Schmitt went 7-for-7 with four doubles, two walks, and five steals, helping lead Team Missouri to a 2-1 record on the week. His ascent started at the St. Louis Top Prospect Games, where the 5-foot-11, 173-pound backstop clearly proved he was one of the best players there across a loaded field. Schmitt has tools across the board - 101.5 mph max exit velocity, 6.68 60-yard dash, 80 mph from the crouch, and 1.86-to-1.95 pop times. His ability to impact the game in multiple ways is evident, and Schmitt sticks out as the top uncommitted backstop on our updated board.

C Xander Schmitt (Lafayette, 2024) displayed explosive athleticism and wiry strength in multiple areas of his game, emerging Tuesday as arguably the day’s biggest winner. At 5-foot-11, 173-pounds, Schmitt ran one of the day’s fastest 60-yard dash times (6.68), which is especially impressive given his position. He blasted the day’s hardest (101.5 mph) and furthest (386 ft.) balls in BP, respectively, averaging 90.8 mph off the barrel with repeated juice to the pull-side. His loud tools translated to the field, where Schmitt exploded out of the crouch for 1.86-to-1.94 pops and an 80 mph high to the bag. Schmitt’s an arrow-up prospect in Missouri’s incoming junior class that’ll certainly generate buzz throughout the summer.

Prior to winning the 2022 Future Games MVP, C Xander Schmitt (Lafayette, 2024) put together an all-around show at this event in late-June. Schmitt recorded the hardest hit ball we saw at one of our events all summer, blasting a ball deep into the left-center gap at 101.5 mph in BP that traveled 386 feet, per TrackMan. He repeated hard contact throughout, posting a 90.8 mph average exit velocity with distance to pair at 260 feet per batted ball. Schmitt’s ability to generate this level of impact contact stems from his strength and bat speed - he peaked at 82.6 mph of barrel speed and averaged 76.2 mph according to our Blast Motion sensors. After all of this, Schmitt ran a 6.68 60-yard dash and topped 80 mph from the crouch, popping at 1.87-to-1.92.
