The day’s top prospect, C Tank Sims (West Plains, 2024; Southeast Missouri State commit) continued to prove why he’s a high-end name in Missouri’s junior class. Currently slotted at No. 15 overall on our rankings, the PBR Future Games alum took one of the more polished BP rounds we’ve seen all winter. He easily sprayed line drives back up the middle from a loose, clean, highly projectable left-handed swing, squaring his firmest ball up at 95.1 mph. Sims will add strength as he continues to physically fill out a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. He’s an asset defensively too, working accurately around the bag with a quick release (1.93-2.00) and arm strength (78 mph) to pair.
2/20/23
Positional Profile: C/SS Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Lean, athletic, well-proportioned frame with plenty of physical projection to come. Hits: LHH. Balanced lower half, high hand start with some upward draft at load, simple leg lift to stride, easy balance through contact. Loose, fluid, athletic hands with bat speed. Short to contact, long barrel through the zone, uphill path on occasion with gap-to-gap feel. Present polish with projectable power as frame matures down the road. Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 86.2 MPH. 257' max distance. Arm: RH. C-78 mph. Short, simple, over-the-top arm slot, accurate and on the bag. Defense: 1.93-2.00 pop times. Balanced base, quick athletic feet that work in rhythm from the crouch, clean to release.
8/22/22
After impressing at the Midwest Mavericks Scout Day, C Tank Sims (West Plains, 2024) earned an invite to the PBR Future Games, where he was amongst the top prospects on Team Select. Sims offers plenty of physical projection attached to a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame, and his present knack for contact should grow into more thump as he continues to fill out. Sims showed flashes of that in BP at LakePoint, elevating loud contact to the pull-side (88 mph avg.) with a max exit velocity of 96.1 mph and peak batted distance at 354 feet, per TrackMan. Sims is a quality defender behind the plate, too, popping a 1.97 on his best bullet at the event with a 78 mph high. Making his debut on these rankings, Sims currently sits at No. 15 overall.
6/19/22

His hardest hit ball left his bat at 96 mph in BP and he peaked at 78 mph from the couch as well. The left-handed hitting Sims boasts a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and also recorded a 96 mph peak exit velocity in BP. He threw the day’s hardest bullet from the crouch at 80 mph and also the quickest throw at 1.97 seconds to the bag.
