Wilson is one of the top bats that Missouri’s 2024 class has to offer, as a strong, well-proportioned switch-hitter that repeats from both sides of the plate. He represented Team Select at the Future Games last year as an underclassmen with athletic actions on the infield that’ll keep him up the middle down the road. Wilson will be making the trip back to LakePoint this summer as a member of Team Missouri’s squad.
Positional Profile: SS
Body: 5-foot-8, 160-pound athletic and developing frame with room for added strength and size.
Hit: SWITCH. At the plate starts with a slightly open stance and upright posture. Hands get set at shoulder height with bat head tilted towards the pitcher. Rhythmic type swing with lots of hand movement. Uses a short two tap stride that gets back to neutral. Level bat path with whipping action through the zone. Has very quick hands and good overall bat speed. Replicates swing well from both sides of the plate. Advanced hitting tools and ability to truly switch hit.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF-74 mph. High ¾ arm slot with clean arm action and quick release.
Defense: In the infield shows good rhythm and feet when attacking the ball. Fluid actions and clean exchanges. Works well laterally to both sides. Good glove action. Advanced defender for class.
Run: 4.27 runner from home to first.
Lukas Wilson: SS/2B, (2024) Staley, MO. 5-foot-7, 150-pound athletic frame. During batting practice, the switch hitter had a max exit velocity of 80 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a short stride before his swing. Bat speed was explosive, showed simple swing plane and high finish. He Barreled up lots of balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 75 mph; had soft hands, smooth footwork and a quick exchange. Used an-over-the-top slot with a short arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.01.
Wilson is a 5-foot-6, 135-pound, switch-hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2024 class. Wilson ran a 7.81 second 60 and a 4.81 home-to-first. Posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. At the plate from the left side, athletic stance, smaller leg lift into load, slightly across body with stride, easy swing, produced contact with a middle approach during round. From the right side, leg lift to load, loose hands, level bat path, primarily contact to left field. On the field, smooth actions, fluid footwork, quick transfer to release, low three-quarter release, 63 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws.
